About this venue

From intimate wedding ceremonies to large receptions, the River Terrace at Shaw Center for the Arts features a glass-enclosed room with an outdoor terrace overlooking the Mississippi River and downtown Baton Rouge. The River Terrace offers the following two options for booking: 1) Venue-Only Option: With this option, you will work with the caterer of their choice and customize your wedding with a variety of vendors. Please note that the Manship Theatre Beverage Service is required for all events with alcohol. 2) Full Service Packages: The full-service packages are offered as an option to help take a little stress off wedding planning and feature Bacon & Fig Events for catering and Manship Theatre Beverage Service for the bar. You only need to provide the cake(s), centerpieces/flowers, and entertainment!

    THE GREATEST EVER

    BEST VENUE EVER

    Aimee Priscilla were so helpful and responsive throughout our entire wedding planning process! When we toured the venue for the first time, we knew we wanted to book the River Terrace for our wedding ceremony reception ASAP. The views from the rooftop terrace are absolutely amazing. We have the most breathtaking photographs taken at sunset! The food was 10/10; everything was delicious, and our guests were sure to tell us the same thing! The beautifully decorated bridal suite was a little too small for my bridal party to get ready in (11 bridesmaids), but we loved spending time relaxing and drinking champagne inside the bridal suite leading up to the ceremony! I do think it would be a lovely space for a smaller party to get ready in, but if not, I definitely recommend getting to the venue early so you have time to enjoy the bridal suite with your bridal party (so pretty inside, big mirror, chandelier, champagne fridge). The bridal suite was also used for our private dinner, which was nice and intimate. We recommend The River Terrace at Shaw Center for the Arts to all couples looking for a gorgeous venue in Baton Rouge.

    Great Service, Great View, Perfect Wedding

    Aimee and Priscilla are very detailed, organized, professional, personal throughout the wedding planning process. From beginning to end, they went above and beyond to make sure my daughter's wedding day was perfect. They also gave us a list of vendors upon our request, and let us know that we did not have to use them, as they were only recommendations from past experience. We chose someone they recommended from each list. The food provided by Stroubes, their full service caterer, was delicious, and our guests still compliment it when we see them. The Shaw Center also has additional rental items available instead of going through a third party vendor. We rented tents, draping, chandeliers and champagne walls. Aimee and Priscilla helped us form a picture perfect wedding, and exceeded all expectations! I highly recommend the Shaw Center for any event!! It truly was a perfect night.

    The Shaw Center Team Goes Above and Beyond

    We work with The Shaw Center on a weekly basis and they consistently strive to make sure that each event gets the attention to detail that it deserves. They have managed to master seamless coordination between clients and vendors, making all of our lives a little bit easier. We highly recommend this venue for any of our brides or event planners, whether it be for personal celebrations or corporate events.

    Best Wedding Venue!

    The Shaw Center, specifically Priscilla Simpson, made wedding planning easy! The Shaw Center provided a gorgeous venue, delicious catering, amazing cocktails, beautiful furniture and linens, and a kind, knowledgeable staff! I cannot recommend this place enough!

Alcohol for all Events MUST be contracted through the Manship Theatre Beverage Service. Licensee is responsible for contracting with the Manship Theatre Beverage Service at least thirty (30) calendar days prior to the Event Date. No alcoholic beverages other than alcohol served by the Manship Theatre Beverage Service are permitted in the Facilities. Outside alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited.
We do not have on-site parking, however, there is a pay-to-park garage across the street from our venue.
Yes, all our facilities are wheelchair accessible. We also have ramps at the each corner of the building, hearing-impaired fire alarm lights, and trained staff.
Your reservation includes eight hours from start to finish, including 4 hours of setup time, 3 hours of event time, and 1 hour of clean up time.
A public parking garage is conveniently located across from the building at the corner of Third Street and Convention Street. Parking is also available on the streets and surface lots surrounding the building in the Downtown Baton Rouge Area. Maps to Shaw Center for the Arts are available upon request, as well as detailed text directions. Valet parking is not offered through the venue, but an event host is welcome to contract out with a valet service directly for the event. In addition, most nearby hotels offer valet service.
Yes, the Venue Only Option allows clients to work with the licensed and insured caterer of their choice. Homemade food or pot-luck style events are not allowed. Caterers are welcome to bring mobile kitchens and park/use them in the loading dock area, but live cooking on-site is prohibited.
Shaw Center for the Arts and all spaces within it are handicap accessible. Manship Theatre and the LSU Museum of Art also offer assisted listening devices for visitors. Metered handicap parking can be found at the corner of North Blvd. and Lafayette Street.
Shaw Center for the Arts does not have any spaces available to get ready before the event. There is a bridal suite located on the premises, but hair and makeup are not allowed to be done on site.
