The Lantern Room is an event space born of a passion for creative collaboration. As the 6th floor rooftop jewel of Church + State, it has been carefully designed with a modern aesthetic and infused with vintage and industrial accents to highlight the heritage of this historic neighborhood. As part of the Hingetown enclave of Ohio City, the Lantern Room has the coolest establishments nearby that guests will walk by and be able before and after your event.

The Lantern Room

With beautiful, light-drenched spaces and unparalleled views of Downtown Cleveland, The Lantern Room has been thoughtfully designed and appointed with a combination of modern and vintage touches.

The Lantern Room includes over 3,000 square feet of light-flooded interior space with high ceilings and picture windows, and over 6,500 square feet of exterior wraparound deck space overlooking the city. It includes well-maintained foliage, an outdoor fire pit, and a large three-season soaking pool. It offers spectacular views of downtown Cleveland and Lake Erie. The layout of the space and deck allows for a great deal of flexibility, making it an ideal location for many types of events, from large weddings to intimate dinners.

Absolutely incredible 10/10
Our experience with Ursula and Penthouse Events was unforgettable! My wife and I got married in September at The Lantern room, and everything about the process was amazing from the start. Ursula was so responsive and professional right from the start, and helped us make our wedding a beautiful reality. She has curated a gorgeous space in Ohio City with a breathtaking view of down town. She has so much experience with hosting weddings and events and it shows! You can tell that every detail has been well considered with her thoughtful experience, resulting in beautiful table displays. She has top notch staff and her collaboration with Zaytoon Lebanese Kitchen for dinner is undeniably the best wedding food we've had (even if we are a bit biased). She worked to make our vision a reality from the very start; we wanted to bring mezcal sourced from Mexico for welcome shots and the answer was an emphatic "Yes!" The venue itself is gorgeous. An intimate indoor space with ceiling height glass windows all around and giant greenery, set above Ohio City with a great view of the downtown skyline. There is a wrap around terrace where all the real fun happens, and our September wedding made full use of the coming crisp fall air. The outside terrace was spacious and perfect for our wedding of 75 guests, and dinner felt cozy and not all all cramped in the indoor space. Also included is a 2 room suite just downstairs from the venue which the bridal party got ready in, and we all took a good break in right before the wedding. Such great memories in that little apartment with all of our friends and family! Ursula doubles as the day of coordinator for the venue, and is skilled with making menus, place cards, and many other paper goods! She seamlessly coordinated with all of our vendors, most of whom she has a prior working relationship with, and the wedding ran right on schedule! We were able to enjoy ourselves to the fullest with minimal distractions, for which we are so infinitely thankful! When things went wrong, Ursula always had an answer; when my wife's dress ripped right before walking down the aisle, she was there with needle and thread. We are so incredibly happy that we had our wedding at The Lantern Room! We would recommend it to anyone who wants a city wedding in Cleveland, without all of the hassle of downtown!

The Lantern Room: 10/10
Getting married at The Lantern Room was one of the best decisions my wife and I could have made. Ursula and Julio did a fantastic job of taking the stress out of coordinating 110 guests and vendors, and when it came to the big day, we were able to actually enjoy ourselves. They were professional, accommodating, and very prompt, not to mention how amazing the venue and the rooftop view looked. It was the best day of my life, and I genuinely wouldn’t change a thing.

A beautiful, unique venue with amazing team/staff
We had our wedding at the Lantern Room hosted by Penthouse Events Cle at the end of August and the entire experience was amazing. The space itself is beautiful, but working with Ursula and her business partner Julio was just as much of a “feature” of this venue. We had so many compliments about our big day, and we both had a blast. I wish I could have bottled up the experience of the whole night to relive again and again. First, about the space: The Lantern Room, on the sixth floor of the Church State apartment building in Hingetown, is a unique, really cool space. We were immediately drawn to the large deck providing a gorgeous view of downtown and the lake. At night, it was magical! Our wedding fell over Labor Day weekend which of course includes the Cleveland air show. We were able to welcome our guests to a “pre” cocktail hour where they could watch the jet show from the deck before being seated for the ceremony. We got really lucky with gorgeous weather, a vivid sunset, and even fireworks from Progressive Field. The inside space is also quite striking, with lots of lovely natural light and options to customize. Between the deck and indoor event space, there were a lot of different options for guests to mingle and dance. There was even a fire pit out on the deck, and we rented a glow-in-the-dark corn hole board from our DJ, so there were options for guests who didn’t want to dance the whole time. The bar was outside on the deck and they were a blast as well! The drinks and the food from the caterer was all delicious - there were a lot of compliments about the signature cocktails and the dinners! We loved that the space was dog friendly as we wanted to include our dog in the special day! You can also rent a fully furnished private apartment on the floor right below the Lantern Room, which we utilized for getting ready. The apartment is spacious, elegantly modern, and so convenient. And between the event space and the apartment, there are so many great, distinctive backgrounds for photos. One small thing to note about the Lantern Room is that since it is in a residential building, the music/partying has to stop by 10pm. The vibes were so good, we felt like we could have stayed later, but it's good to end on a high note and we also arranged for a nice after-party at one of the great bars literally around the corner, so that was super convenient and a hit for our guests. Ursula was so communicative and helpful throughout the whole process. We were always impressed by how promptly she replied to emails. She helped form our vision and bring it to life based on just a few conversations and a Pinterest board that we put together. We truly felt supported in the lead-up and, most importantly, on the wedding day. It even came down to the little touches: for example, she helped come up with specialty cocktails that reflected our tastes well (including a bonus mocktail named for our dog!), put together menus that exactly matched the design of the other graphics I had made. She and Julio have great energy and clearly enjoy working together. The entire staff was so professional and our entire wedding day went smoothly. We were just so so pleased!
