In the heart of Kentucky's coalfields, Pine Mountain Settlement School is reigniting a vision so old it is new again. Visit, support, and advocate for the beautiful people, children, cultures, and wildlands of the Kentucky Mountains. The most beautiful place on earth is serving Eastern Kentucky with world-class Environmental Education programming, people- and place-driven Community Development, sustainable and traditional Agricultural stewardship, and strong Appalachian Cultures and Heritage. Serving the people of the Kentucky Mountains since 1913, our mission is to enrich lives and connect people through Appalachian place-based education for all ages.

Rustic historic charm amidst pristine wildlands

Set on over 800 acres of carefully preserved forests, Pine Mountain Settlement School is a National Historic Landmark that offers a breathtaking backdrop for your wedding events. Couples can exchange vows at The Chapel, a striking structure built by local hands from stone and timber harvested right on the grounds, framed beautifully by flowering redbud and dogwood trees. For receptions and dinners, Laurel House provides a warm, inviting dining space full of character. Designed by pioneering female architect Mary Rockwell Hook, the buildings perfectly echo the mountain ridges for an unforgettable atmosphere.
