About this venue
Martha's Bed & Breakfast is a restored 1909 Mission-style home in a quiet Lincoln neighborhood, and it was made for the kind of wedding where you actually know everyone in the room. We host intimate celebrations of 50 to 80 guests, so your day never feels like it is happening in a rented hall. Say your vows on the landscaped grounds or the wide front porch, then move inside to the dining room, the den, and the living room with its baby grand piano. The house is on the National Register of Historic Places, so your photos come with period details that no decorator could recreate. Nine bedrooms mean your wedding party and your out-of-town guests can stay right here, and nobody has to drive home at the end of the night. Every wedding is planned with Experience Happiness, our exclusive coordinator, so you get a professional in your corner from the first walkthrough to the last dance.

Stayed here during a quick trip to Nebraska and had a wonderful experience. The property has such unique history and architecture, and the room was exceptionally clean, charming, and full of historic/vintage character. The check-in process is a little different from a traditional hotel, mainly because the property is locally operated, but it wasn’t a lot of hassle Overall, a great stay! If you’re looking for a unique, comfortable place and want to support a local business, I highly recommend staying here.

Very beautiful experience all around. So fun to see the wood work. Very good service. Much better than staying at a hotel again. Great service. Comfortable bed. Very spacious rooms.

Absolutely the BEST place I have stayed in! Gorgeous home with so much history, I feel very privileged to have stayed here and learned about the area and original owner of this historic home! The owner is fantastic and very welcoming! We will definitely be back ☺️

If you like staying in a museum this is the place for you. Beautiful house and great room. Here are some suggestions for improvement: - Breakfast. Spend some money on breakfast. Cold cut ham and cheese, a croissant the size of a crescent roll, and a very small bowl of fruit are not enough. Only coffee and tea, with just raw sugar or artificial sweeteners is not enough. Some juice would be nice. Sugar would be nice. A tray of pastries would be great. Some crackers or bread with the cold cuts would help. - Put written instructions by the coffee maker. A coffee maker so complicated you need written instructions needs to have them. - Put a combo lock on your front door. Treating guests like servants where we need to walk out the side door and around the house to sit on the porch is unacceptable. - Put chairs in the bedrooms. A huge room with only the bed to sit on is disappointing. While we can use the downstairs spaces not everyone wants to socialize after a day out. - Put a trash can downstairs somewhere. While I can respect your desire to not have guests eat in their rooms, give us somewhere downstairs to throw away our trash. I had to walk outside to your construction dumpster to throw things away unless I wanted to leave my trash laying around. - While it's not an unusual to not bring food and drinks to the bedrooms, usually it's because there are expensive rugs and/or homemade quilts. This didn't make sense with hotel grade white linens and all hard surfaces in the room. It's a beautiful place and the host was friendly. I thought having to call before arrival when I already told you my arrival time was a pain. If the focus shifted more to the guests and less to maintaining the museum it would be a much more pleasant experience.
Martha's Bed and Breakfast•Jul 28, 2026Thank you for taking the time to write a detailed review, and for the kind words about the house, the room, and the staff. We appreciate honest feedback, even the parts that sting a little. Several of your suggestions are already on our list, including instructions by the coffee maker, seating in the bedrooms, and a place to dispose of trash downstairs. A few of our choices, like calling ahead and keeping food to the common areas, come from running a small, personal operation rather than a large hotel, and they help us look after both our guests and our historic home. We do hear you that the balance can tip too far, and we are working on it, renovation included. Thank you again for staying at Martha's. - Peter Jongko

My wife and I enjoyed our stay; brief as it was. Normally while traveling between our home in PA and our kids in Wyoming we would get on the road early in the morning. However, when we saw the beautiful table setting in the dining room, we felt we could wait. So, we walked the neighborhood and enjoyed the architecture of the surrounding homes. The breakfast, including interacting with the other guests was worth the wait. This would be a good second night stop for future visits, so I believe we will be there again. The breakfast server went above and beyond to get us ice and coffee for our travel mugs before we left.
