About Teala Ward Photography

Teala Ward

Owner & Lead Photographer

Central Illinois wedding photographer specializing in full-day coverage that creates space for stress-free wedding days. Teala captures real, honest, and emotional moments with a sprinkle of whimsy, focusing on authentic interactions rather than posed perfection.

Everyone deserves a wedding day that feels unmistakably like them, beautiful, joyful, and maybe a little chaotic. I'll pose you just enough to get you comfortable, then let the day happen. Mostly I'm watching for the quiet glances, the happy tears, and the questionable dance moves. Years from now, your photos won't just show you what happened. They'll bring back how it felt.

    Amazing Phtographer!

I would recommend Teala & her additional photographer time & time again. If you’re looking for someone to not only listen to what you want but also hear what you’re saying about your vision, amazing with little kiddos & getting them to partake in photos. Has a style focused on the couple themselves, not the noise of everyone else. the whole progress was seamless with her! She makes it fun, personal, and genuine in every aspect.

    Wow!

I cannot say enough good things about Teala, not only as a person but as a photographer as well! You meet her and she instantly feels like family, after she photographed my brothers wedding last year I knew I wanted her to do mine as well. The way she is able to capture every moment, even those moments you don’t realize are happening is truly remarkable. I’ve worked with many photographers and her communication/ organization leading up to the event was top tier and her turn around time has by far been the fastest, in only a weeks time we had a “sneak peek” of over 100 photos!

We met Teala at a bridal show and instantly knew we wanted to work with her! Her work was stunning & everything we were looking for. We had a video visit with Teala before signing any contracts to go over what our expectations were from her & what her expectations were from us. We appreciated the opportunity to get to know her more & her to know us more before we committed to anything. We loved that she heavily suggested that we leave 45 minutes during the day for bride & groom portraits. I didn’t even factor those into the day. We also ended those earlier than anticipated & that allowed us to just have a few minutes to ourselves - which was so nice. We got our sneak peeks back and we are so in loved. Every single one of them is breathtaking & exactly what we were hoping for. I cannot recommend Teala enough for photographs!!

My fiance and I have contracted with Teala for our wedding in 2027. We just received our engagement photos and we are BLOWN AWAY by their beauty. I cannot believe that is us! The whole photoshoot was fun, laid back and we were able to capture amazing candid and posed shots. We haven't done photoshoots like this and Teala made it so easy and fun for us, and offered so much direction and advice while still letting us enjoy the time and interact naturally. As a bride, I am worried about the wall of stress that is going to hit during planning, but I already know Teala will be a breath of fresh air during the process and we truly cannot wait to see how she captures our big day.

I cannot recommend Teala enough!! She captured our wedding day absolutely PERFECTLY! Her creativity and communication are like no other, we even tried a few new things to her and she executed it perfectly. She’s also taken family photos for us and they’re still my favorite ones! She is so easy to work with and nothing feels forced whatsoever. I recommend her to anyone who even brings up needing a photographer! One of the best!!

You, your person, your wedding attire, and nowhere else to be. No timeline, no family waiting on you, no rushing. Just the two of you. You can sneak in private vows if you want them, chase the golden hour, explore somewhere that actually means something to you, and just exist together for a little while. The photos are stunning but honestly the experience is the best part.
It means I'm with you from getting ready to the last dance. No watching the clock, no rushing out before the cake is cut. You get the whole day documented start to finish so nothing gets missed.
You relax. I get to work. Your gallery will be delivered within 8 weeks, fully edited and ready to print huge and hang on your walls like the art it is.
I promise 50 per hour in my contract but honestly that's the floor not the ceiling. I'm an over deliverer by nature so most galleries end up closer to 100 or more per hour of coverage. You're not going to be disappointed.
Only if you're eloping or holding a smaller ceremony directly on park land. If you book your wedding through Starved Rock Lodge, they handle that for you and no separate permit is needed. I'm happy to help you figure out which situation applies to you.
Golden hour is gorgeous, but honestly, the tree canopy over most of the trails means almost any time of day works well. Just keep in mind that once dusk hits, it gets dark fast under that canopy, so we want to be intentional about timing if your ceremony runs late. Wherever your timeline lands, I'll build the schedule around chasing the best light we can get.
Starved Rock Lodge is probably the most used spot for ceremonies. Spots like Lover's Leap, Council Overhang, French Canyon, and the further overlooks require a real hike to reach. If you're not up for hiking, or don't want to build extra time into your day for it, those trail spots probably aren't the move, and we can stick closer to the lodge instead. It also depends on logistics: larger ceremonies sometimes rent the park trolley to shuttle to farther spots, while couples eloping often have more flexibility to just drive out and hike in themselves. The right location really depends on your group size, how much walking you want your guests to
Starved Rock is beautiful in every kind of weather, including rain. Some of my favorite galleries have come from misty, moody days at the park. Honestly, it depends on you. If you're the type to laugh it off, grab an umbrella, and truck through the mud with me, rain can make for some of the most romantic, cinematic photos you'll ever get. If staying clean and dry matters more to you, we'll lean on covered spots and keep things simple instead. Either way, there's no wrong answer, I just want to know your vibe going in so I can plan around it. Rain is never something to panic about at Starved Rock, it just changes the mood.
