Located in Northern Illinois, couples who choose me are looking for clean, natural, and timeless wedding photography. My style is very candid and photojournalistic, but also artistic and professional. My editing style is very clean, keeping your images timeless.

Besides my actual photographs, with 15 years of experience, I know what to expect at most of the weddings I shoot, and try my best to help my couples breeze through the few hiccups they may not have thought to plan. At the end of the night, I am generally thanked for keeping things on time and making sure bridal parties and families are where they are supposed to be!

    Weddings By Holly Lou made our wedding day so much better. Holly stayed on top of our timeline and kept us moving without us even noticing, which meant we didn't stress about the schedule at all. She was there whenever we needed something, whether it was a quick fix or just some encouragement. Her photos turned out professional and fun, capturing moments that felt natural and real instead of stiff. Holly herself is sweet and hilarious—she kept us laughing the whole day, which made everything feel relaxed and comfortable. We couldn't have asked for a better photographer or a better experience overall.

    Holly Became Family

    I never expected her to capture so much in our pictures! You can see all the love and happiness in our pictures. She really was my right hand girl, I couldn’t have gotten through the day without her! She has done our engagement, wedding, my daughter’s senior pictures and we still have a session to use for family pictures!! I’ll never look for a different photographer!

    Holly Johns Photography was the absolute easiest photography vendor to communicate with. Holly is timely, always prepared, and beyond supportive! And her skill with photos speaks for itself. Holly is a true professional, kind, hard working, and excellent at her craft. She contributed so much to our special day - not only did she give us the most stunning photos, but she kept our whole day running smoothly! Holly made sure we had time to eat, drink water, mingle with our families, try the appetizers we wanted, and was so endlessly kind and supportive. It was the best vendor experience I've ever had. If you don't hire Holly, you are MISSING OUT!!! I would recommend her to anyone, and I'm looking forward to continuing to have her capture all of our big life moments.

    Memories Captured Perfectly

    Holly was absolutely AMAZING! She really was more than just a photographer. From the beginning through to the end she offered endless support and advice. Her experience and professionalism really shines through. Which allowed us to relax and have the best day of our lives! We absolutely loved our photos! She is seriously talented and genuinely love what she does. We highly recommend Holly Johns Photography. She captured memories we will cherish forever.

Most couples book at least one year in advance - especially for peak season dates. Booking with less time can be accommodated if I am available on that date. It's best to always book as soon as possible.
I do have specific second photographers that I contract with for couples choosing that option. I generally do not have an assistant. Unless a second photographer is requested, I generally work alone.
I edit all images I deliver. I do not deliver every single image I take. I get rid of photos that are not quality - duplicates, eyes closed, exposure off, out-of-focus, etc. Sometimes, I will still deliver those photos - if the moments outweigh the quality.
No, I focus on photography only. I can, however, recommend local videographers that I love working with and have no problem working alongside any videographer you hire.
I post at least 20 images that evening on Facebook and Instagram! You will wake up the next morning to a few images ready for you to share. The remaining gallery is generally delivered as soon as two weeks after the wedding. Peak season weddings will sometimes be three weeks. Rarely is it four.
This truly depends on your wedding and your wants. The longer I am with you, the more I will generally deliver. Also, if I am given adequate time to photograph portraits, you will receive more. If the schedule runs behind or your bridal party doesn't want to follow directions, we will lose time - and lose images.
The Rockford area has an incredible group of photographers who believe in community over competition. In the very, very rare event that I’m unable to photograph your wedding, I’ll make sure you are covered by a photography with at least my experience - if not more - before you even know something has happened to me. I believe there are no sick days when it comes to weddings. I have shot weddings with fevers, food poisoning, double ear infections, etc. I would have to truly not be able to physically be there for me to miss your big day.
