Officiant

I (Julie Furr) specialize in creating and officiating custom wedding ceremonies, designed especially for each couple’s wants and needs. I marry ALL couples with ALL kinds of traditions. It is the couple's decision whether or not to include any spiritual or religious elements. The focus of the ceremony is the love between the two who are joining in marriage. We will meet (virtually or in person, free consultation) to talk through possibilities for this unique ceremony. I provide a digital Ceremony Planning Form from which I create a custom ceremony draft!

I add a special touch by having each partner separately answer questions about their love for each other. I utilize the answers to create and deliver a talk called "Words of Wisdom" before their vows are exchanged. This makes the ceremony personal to that couple and includes some light and serious moments. Many couples even save this part to hear for the first time on the special day!

    Julie with NC Weddings of Distinction helped make our special day a very special memory. As a gay couple, of course we had the anxiety of trying to find a wedding officiant who would be inclusive, understanding and supportive. When we came across Julie's website, we instantly became somewhat relieved and hopeful due to her site content and what seemed like a perfect person to make our day official. Then with our first meeting with her via videocall, our hopefulness turned into sheer relief and happiness that we had found our perfect officiant. Julie was organized, professional, caring and totally open to making sure our dream day was exactly what we wanted. Other officiants that we talked with kept trying to fit our wedding day into a "package" or some sort of traditional vision of what they expected our day to be. Julie was total opposite and took our lead and drove the vision based on what WE wanted for our day, offering counsel when we had questions and always circling back to our vision and hopes. She understood quickly that we did not want a stereotypical wedding ceremony, and that our vision was an elegant cocktail and dinner event with close family and friends ... that just so happened to have a wedding ceremony incorporated into the evening. Julie took time to get to know us as individuals and as a couple, using that information to create a story or narrative that incorporated our personalities and dreams with touches of love, laughter and heartfelt tears in nearly all guests' eyes. Julie was an essential element in our day that made our "ceremony" unique and memorable for the rest of our lives.

    Julie was very friendly and helpful in the process of organizing our ceremony. We had a small ceremony that she made feel comfortable and sacred to honor our views. She even went out of her way to accommodate us on a holiday. I would choose her again if I had to do it all over again. She’s a great pick to officiate your wedding.
