I am a licensed wedding officiant with over 8 years of theatre and public speaking experience in crafting ceremonies that are both meaningful and memorable. I am passionate about helping couples create a wedding day that they will cherish forever!

I am a professional actor and use what I learned in acting class: projecting my voice so all your guests can hear, speaking clearly, with diction so everyone understands what is being said, and pausing for dramatic effect. I am also a teacher trainer so I take what I learned as an educator into my practice by learning about each and every one of my couples as best as I can- so that I can deliver a personal customized ceremony.

    The Perfect Ceremony on a Perfect Day

    We had such a great experience with Mariela for our small, four-person legal ceremony. She was elegant, articulate, and brought a sense of grace and professionalism that made the day feel even more special. Her services were also reasonably priced, which was a big plus for us. During our phone call, she was very helpful and even offered to help us write our vows ( (we didn’t end up using that service) which was such a kind offer. She was happy to walk us through the process and offered us a bunch of resources like poems and quotes to consider for the ceremony. On the day of, she was punctual, dressed appropriately, and really respectful throughout the whole process. During the ceremony, she had the perfect speaking voice for the occasion and was on point. When I visibly started to get emotional while she was speaking, without missing a beat, she handed me a tissue which was such a thoughtful gesture. You could tell she’s done this a lot and knew exactly what was needed in that moment. Overall, we would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a kind, polished, and accommodating officiant for their big day.

    Oh What A Beautiful Ceremony

    One of the greatest experiences I’ve been a part of as a photographer. It was a sunrise wedding in Central Park. We both wheeled our belongings into the Bethesda Fountain location at 5:30am. She was prompt, PUNCTUAL, FULL OF LIFE (at 5:30am) and Professional. She spoke with great love and bystanders that were running all stopped to get a glimpse of the energy that permeated the park. The couple and family were pleased and I left impressed. A wonderful officiant that I would gladly recommend to everyone and one I’d use myself if I was planning a wedding.

    A special ceremony with Mariela!

    I am still on a high from the beautiful ceremony we had with Mariela yesterday. I had asked for something very low key and simple, since I have been with my partner a long time already. She was able to honor my request, while still making it a very special moment. Once she arrived, her instructions were very clear, and she was so sweet to my parents who were the witnesses. She has such positive energy and presence, and we felt like she really knew what she was doing/very professional. We also really enjoyed getting to know her a little bit more. Oh my goodness, let’s just say I’ve lost count somewhere in the 'hundreds and hundreds' range! I’ve officially entered the 'I’ve seen it all' phase of my career, from surprise guests and tear-jerking vows to rings being dropped in the grass (don't worry, we always find them!). While I’ve stopped counting the exact number, I’ve never lost count of the joy, the nerves, and the magic in every single ceremony. Put it this way: I’ve heard 'I do' enough times to know that every couple’s story is still entirely, wonderfully unique!
I personally do not provide this service but can make referrals for people that do.
