About Chadwick Weddings

Chadwick Weddings

Head Officiant

I love giving my couples an experience they will treasure forever. Your ceremony should fill you with happy memories when you think back on how you began your journey together as one. My ceremonies celebrate love, marriage, partnership, and connection. I have been ordained since 2014 and I am licensed to solemnize marriages in NJ, PA, NY, DE, and MD. I am happy to marry ANY loving, consenting couple who wishes to tie the knot in style. My delivery is engaging and energetic, with a professionally trained voice from decades of singing opera, voiceover work, and public oration, enabling me to deliver a beautiful, unforgettable ceremony.

I am a professional vocalist, performer, and orator with decades of experience. I have been a wedding vendor since 2008 and have performed services for hundreds and hundreds of weddings. I approach weddings with an attention to excellent customer service that would make Disney envious. I love helping my couples with the entire wedding process, not just the ceremony itself. I am very happy to share my vast experience with my couples!

    Officiant Review

We had the absolute pleasure of having Michael as our officiant and we couldn’t have been more happy with how he helped make our wedding day so special. From the start, we knew Michael would be the perfect fit. His energy and warmth made it so easy to talk with him, and he was so informed about lots of different aspects of wedding planning. He had excellent communication and always answered any questions we had quickly and efficiently. On the day of the wedding, he exceeded our expectations. He brought such a fun, upbeat, and joyful energy to our ceremony that guests loved, and they continued to let me know after the wedding how much they loved him. He definitely made our ceremony text uniquely us. If you’re looking for an officiant who is professional, charismatic, and knows exactly how to make a ceremony both meaningful and fun, we cannot recommend him highly enough, he will not disappoint!

    Flawless!

From start to finish, my experience with Michael was flawless! I wish there was more than 5 stars to give :) He was so prompt with answering any questions or emails I sent him, extremely welcoming and always put me at ease. Your kindness and friendly demeanor made me feel so calm up there and I needed that more than you know. I had a lot of anxiety about the moment going perfectly and it exceeded my expectations. Our microphone actually gave out 10 seconds into talking and you were able to just carry on and make it just as beautiful. Everyone was so impressed and happy with you, especially Dan and myself. You’re great at what you do!

    Unforgettable Ceremony

Thank you Mr. Michael Chadwick for the beautiful ceremony. We were lucky enough that the weather cleared up before the ceremony as well. Michael's flexibiliy, guidance and the ceremony text from him made it all easy for us. Thank you again!

    Michael is wonderful--Book him!

Michael has such a fun and friendly energy and we're so glad he did our ceremony. He was so great during the planning process and extremely quick at responding to emails and making adjustments to our ceremony script. Guests told us how beautiful the ceremony was and noted how vast his vocabulary was. Our ceremony will be such a special memory to look back on because of Michael's beautiful words and thoughtful delivery. I would definitely recommend him to anyone!

Dear Julia, thank you so very much for sharing your kind words! I am beyond grateful to have had the opportunity and honor of performing your wedding ceremony! I enjoyed getting to know you both and to celebrate with you, your family, and your friends!

Absolutely! I love personalizing wedding ceremonies with my couples. It helps to make your wedding unique and tells your story perfectly. I enjoy incorporating unique and personal touches, especially with unity rituals, into ceremonies. There are many ways a couple can express their story in their ceremony. There is no limit to the things we can do to make a ceremony truly yours.
Happily. We have a simple elopement package that includes a very brief ceremony text modified with your wedding details. It’s an economical way to tie the knot if you’re in need of a quick elopement. If you just need a license signing, that is also available at a greatly reduced rate. We have packages to fit every need.
Michael is a non-denominational interfaith minister, ordained both through Universal Life Church and through Soul Community Church (Pennsylvania). We can perform any legal marriage ceremony authorized by the state, and we are registered to solemnize marriages in NJ, PA, NY, DE, and MD. We are happy to register as an officiant in other locations, so long as we have sufficient notice to facilitate the registration.
As of summer 2026 Michael has performed nearly two hundred wedding ceremonies. As a photographer he captured more than four hundred weddings before retiring as a photographer. In short, we have provided services for nearly six hundred weddings and have performed those wedding services at many, many venues around the region and even internationally since 2008.
I do perform vow renewals, which is merely a ceremony where an already married couple renews or re-affirms their wedding vows. This can be new text, or a repetition of their original vows. To some couples, a vow renewal might be an opportunity to have the wedding they dreamed of, but for some reason could not have earlier. To others it may signify the desire to mark a significant anniversary milestone, or to perhaps strengthen their commitment following a difficult time.
The purpose of a rehearsal is for the wedding party and any other ceremony participants to know their walking order, where they stand, and where any specific unity ritual activities might be taking place during the ceremony. None of those impact my logistical role. So, it is not normally necessary for me to rehearse. I have been involved with hundreds of weddings and can say with a high degree of confidence that I will be able to stand there and do my part well on your wedding day. That is not to say I will not rehearse, or that I cannot be hired to run your rehearsal. It is almost always unnecessary, though.
This is your wedding. You have probably spent thousands of dollars to make it as perfect as it can be, and you put the tone of the entire day at risk if you don’t have a good, experienced, professional officiant. There is only one chance to deliver it in a way that is elegant, engaging, beautiful, sincere, easily understood, and confident. One chance. Trust it to a professional. If you want to involve a cherished friend or family member in the ceremony, there are many ways to accomplish this without putting your entire wedding ceremony at risk. Anyone can buy a baseball bat. That doesn’t turn them into Bryce Harper.
The license to get married is something that the couple acquires. In most of my packages I include delivery of the marriage license to the appropriate agency immediately following the wedding. If you wish to turn it in yourselves, you are welcome to do so, but I am more than happy to do it for you. Each township’s web site usually has helpful FAQs about the license and the post-wedding marriage certificate. The best way to begin is to perform a search on the township you’re getting married in, and “marriage license.”
Happily! We perform weddings for any loving, consenting couple who wish to tie the knot. We believe in equal kindness, respect, and treatment for all.
I’ll chat with you about that in more detail, but the short answer is your choice of either a suit or a black cassock (robe). With the cassock (or the suit, for that matter) I can optionally wear an ivory or rainbow stole (like a long scarf). I also have a black standard tuxedo if that is preferred. I am happy to dress in any way that is appropriate for your wedding. If any wedding is so specifically-themed that an entire costume rental or purchase is required, that exact cost would have to be reimbursed.
Unless requested specifically, I do not typically stay beyond the cocktail hour following the performance of a wedding. Once the wedding ceremony is completed, I will get the marriage license filled out, “grip and grin” a little with your guests while you’re doing the same or getting photos done, and I will check out with you before I depart. Some couples have asked me to stay and offer a blessing before dinner, which I am also happy to do. Even in that case, you do not have to provide me with a vendor meal, a seat at any table, or anything like that.
I have access to a portable amplification system. This service can be added to your wedding ministry package at an additional cost. But, this is rarely needed. I suggest first you look into your DJ having one, then your venue. If neither of those are the case, then consider amplification if appropriate. If your space is on the smaller side it is not likely I would need to be amplified. I sang opera for decades and have a powerful enough voice to be heard in most settings.
Chadwick Weddings is in favor of you having the best possible photographs of your ceremony. We do not restrict your photography team, we simply ask that they do not be a disruption to the ceremony. There is no circumstance in which any professional wedding photographer worth their salt should ever need to be up in the faces of people at the altar. I always check in with the photography team to inform them of anything they need to be ready for, and I always ensure they are in good positions at the right time during the ceremony. And yes, whenever Michael is the wedding minister, he always gets his 6’7″ body out of the way for the kiss!
Legally I cannot make any specific recommendations, as each couple’s name change needs are unique. There are services available to assist couples with this need such as HitchSwitch and MissNowMrs. If one or both of you are changing names, I do recommend you obtain several (at least five) copies of your marriage certificate following the wedding.
Each state's laws vary, so it is advised you research your own state's laws on this matter. I can only provide non-legal advice. From what I have come to understand: In PA, it is not legally permitted for me to perform a wedding ceremony without a marriage license. In NJ, you can have a wedding complete with any and all typical wedding verbiage, including the pronouncement of you as spouses at the conclusion of the ceremony. This will not be a legal wedding in the eyes of the state until a license is acquired, completed, and turned in to the proper municipal authority.
A "Sign & Go" is just a license signing. There is no ceremony that takes place, it is merely a legal signature on your marriage license. For more information, please see the FAQs on https://chadwickweddings.com/officiant/faqs_officiant
We have multiple officiants on our team, and a single officiant can perform two, even three, weddings in one day. It all depends on distance between weddings and, of course, timing. We also have multiple team members on staff.
Yes, I am honored to provide a graveside or funeral home memorial service filled with empathy, professionalism, and warmth. I have a separate web site for this purpose, which you can find at https://www.chadwickceremonies.com
