My name is Amber, and I'm the owner of Smudge. I have been in the industry for 10 years working weddings, editorial, and film. Weddings have been a constant throughout my career and styling brides has been my favorite type of make-up. I love being a part of someone's special day and creating a look that makes them feel like the best version of themselves. In 2018 I started Smudge, a team of on-site hair and makeup artists based in South Eastern CT, specializing in weddings. We're an onsite team that serves all of Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, Massachusetts, and beyond. Booking minimum is per service. *Now booking 2026 and 2027*

I take your whole wedding day into consideration when developing your hair and makeup schedule to ensure that everything runs smooth and on time; allowing you to enjoy your wedding morning stress free and able to enjoy those special moments just before you're married.

We give 30 minutes for each service, and the bride will get an entire hour to perfect their wedding day look. We leave an hour down time in between being finished with hair and makeup and the time you need to be fully ready for first look/ceremony time. You'll appreciate that time so that you're not rushing and can take it all in.

Yes we do! We highly recommend having a bridal trial. Come the day of the wedding you will be confident in our beauty plan and will have one less thing to worry about. Our hair trial is $125 and makeup $125. We have a studio you can come to or we can travel for an additional fee.

As soon as possible! We have some brides book two years out. In order to guarantee your date, the sooner the better. Dates are not secure without a contract and a 50% non refundable retainer fee.

Wonderful product, timeline just didn't quite work
Amber and Kristy did a great job on the makeup and hair for myself and my bridesmaids, and makeup for my mom. They were fun, friendly, and informative, and everyone looked beautiful. They listened to my feedback from my trial, and everything came out even better on the day. I felt so beautiful all day, and never worried once about my hair or makeup staying in place, even through SO many tears (even when the wind decided to take my veil, it popped easily back into place)! And everything was so comfortable for how durable it proved to be - no drying products or pulling on my hair. Amber and Kristy's work is a great value, and they fit right in with my bridal party, making the start to the day that much more fun. My only critique was the timeline - I was working without a coordinator, so I trusted the professionals to lay out a timeline that they were comfortable with. Ultimately it just wasn't enough time, and despite my mother-in-law dropping out of the lineup (for unrelated reasons), my makeup still finished late. I understand this stuff happens, but I felt like the only one concerned about continuing to fall behind, and we would have had no issue getting started earlier if asked. So I would recommend some buffer in your timeline, particularly if you are DIYing it, but they did a great job!

Best Hair & Makeup Team!
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Smudge Makeup, especially Megan (hair stylist) and Amber (makeup artist and business owner). They truly helped me feel like the best version of myself on my wedding day! From the first day I spoke with Amber about my big day, she made me feel good about the services her team would provide me with. She was very transparent with pricing, and even has a spot on the website for brides to upload inspiration photos for wedding looks. It was easy to schedule a trial with her, and both Amber and Megan made it clear that they wanted me to feel good and wanted me to share any and all feedback about what I liked and didn’t like about the test run. This all made me feel at ease in the weeks leading up to the wedding. From the moment we started, they made me feel comfortable and confident. Megan worked her magic on my hair, creating a beautiful updo that was both elegant and natural. Despite the windy weather at Branford House, my hair stayed in place all day and night—over 12 hours—and I didn’t have to worry about it once! Amber’s makeup artistry was just as impressive. She created the perfect glowy, natural look I had hoped for. Even when I got a little teary-eyed during the ceremony, my makeup stayed flawless. Amber and Megan also worked with my bridesmaids and my mom, and everyone looked stunning. It was such a special experience knowing that everyone was so well taken care of, and we all felt beautiful. If you’re looking for a team that can make your wedding day even more memorable, I highly recommend Smudge Makeup. They made me feel amazing, and the results were beyond my expectations. Thank you again for making me feel like the best version of myself on such an important day!

Highly recommend!
As a bridal vendor I and past client I would 10/10 recommend anyone on the team! Smudge makeup is one of the best teams to work with! The entire team is amazing and we always work well together especially with timing (which is HUGE in this industry!)

Hair and makeup dreams come true!
Kristy and Amber from Smudge made my hair and makeup dreams come true! Kristy nailed my hairstyle — it stayed flawless all freakin’ night despite the heat, which still blows my mind. Amber worked her magic with my makeup and made me feel absolutely beautiful on my wedding day — I’m still getting compliments! Both ladies were so kind, calm, and wonderful to work with from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for a better glam team!

The BEST!!
Amber at Smudge is the absolute BEST! Her makeup absolutely slayed and the entire wedding party got compliments all night long. She listens to your concerns and what you are looking for, takes into account your trial and if you want to change anything, and the makeup was perfect day of!!
