About Soil Sisters Farm and Florist

Maisie & Willow

Owners

Soil Sisters Farm is a diversified farm in the Sierra Nevada Foothills of California, on Nisenan land, and a stone’s throw from the South Fork of the Yuba River. We are a women-owned business, founded in 2010 with a commitment to valuing healthy relationships – to oneself, one another, and the land – as a way to bring health and beauty into our community. We raise flowers, vegetables, and a pretty happy population of bees on a one and half acre parcel of leased land just outside of Nevada City.

We grow all of the flowers we use in our wedding design - meaning all of your flowers will be 100% organic, sustainably grown, and picked fresh for maximum vibrancy and longevity. We are a small farm and florist and involved with all aspects of our business, from planting the seeds to arranging your bridal bouquet - meaning our design work and floral offerings are deeply connected to the land we farm and our passion for flowers. We LOVE flowers. We are inspired by our daily work and have a deep appreciation for seasonal flowers - meaning we serve our clients with our whole hearts, and we bring that joy to making your wedding florals perfect.

We service Gold Country (Nevada City/Grass Valley), Truckee/Tahoe, and Sacramento. We offer delivery, setup, and breakdown services within a 100 mile radius of Nevada City, CA. We have a $2,500 minimum for floral delivery (and $500 minimum for pickup). Since many weddings require a professional set up, we also charge a separate fee for event installation.
We have a $1,500 minimum for custom floral pieces. We also offer a complete wedding package starting at $495 with pre-selected flower types and quantities.
Farm Consultations last approximately 1 hour. Please come prepared with details about your wedding like your budget and style, and inspiration (images of your venue, your color palette, photos from social media/pinterest). Any family or friends who will be day-of floral support are welcome to come. After your consultation, we will draw up a proposal with prices and email it to you.
Yes, we offer breakdown services along with delivery, set up, and flower transfer from the ceremony to the reception. We do not typically offer breakdown post-reception.
It’s never too early to get in touch about your wedding, but we recommend having a few details figured out before you do. Have you selected the location for your ceremony and/or reception? What’s your wedding style? Do you know how many guests you’ll be expecting? Typically, our couples reach out around 6 to 8 months before their big day, but we receive requests for events weeks before as well!
During your consultation, we will go over all the gorgeous in-season floral offerings available for your wedding date. We also have a rough guide for flower availability by month on our website. We grow all of our wedding blooms, so you are pretty much guaranteed to have in-season flowers :).
Besides vases we do not have other items for sale/rent. We are happy to work with and around any decor you include in your event!
Yes! Please ask us about our bouquet-to-wreath creations! We have customers dry their bouquet along with other flowers from the day, and we create a one-of-a-kind everlasting wreath for your home.
