Incomplete, underwhelming, low-value execution
I hired Exquisite Events and Floral Design LLC for a high-profile two-part celebration, and after 20 years in event planning, this was one of the most unprofessional vendor experiences I’ve ever had. I’m sharing this so couples and families don’t risk their once-in-a-lifetime moments on promises that don’t translate into real execution. The Décor Fell Far Short of the Proposal While the general concept resembled the proposal, the delivery was nowhere near the standard promised. The long dinner table—meant to be the signature visual moment—was barely half done. We contracted lush, continuous florals, feathers, taper candles, and a dramatic cascade. Instead, we received sparse florals, no feathers, no taper candles, and a cascade lacking fullness. Several florals arrived slightly wilted, and the overall setup looked flat and underwhelming. The black draping labeled “WITH swags” was installed flat and unfinished. Only after the event was already delayed did her team attempt to fix it, resulting in an uneven installation visibly held together with pins. The red entry draping, which was supposed to be styled, was left hanging heavy and closed, forcing guests to push through fabric to move between spaces. One of the five contracted pedestals never arrived, leaving a candelabra placed on the floor. The large birthday sign never arrived either. The owner knew two days beforehand that it wouldn’t make it and never communicated this, eliminating any chance to source a backup. Printed Materials Were Not Delivered Menu cards and place cards were never provided. The venue had to reformat and print emergency name cards five minutes before dinner during an already delayed event. Menu cards never appeared at all. The Event Was Delayed Nearly an Hour The room was supposed to be ready by 7 PM. It wasn’t. The event started almost an hour late because décor was incomplete. Our photography and videography team—booked specifically to capture pre-event detail shots—could not capture a single styled moment before guests arrived. For milestone events, this matters. The Communication Was the Most Concerning Part Critical issues were not communicated in advance: the missing sign, the missing pedestal, incomplete draping, missing printed materials, and significant timing delays. Instead, we discovered these problems as guests were walking in. After the event, the owner tried to attribute the failures to the fact that we contracted her 10 days before the celebration. But she accepted the job with full confidence, confirmed she could deliver every detail, reassured us repeatedly, and accepted full payment. You cannot promise flawless execution and then use the timeline you agreed to as your excuse for failing to meet the contract. Even more concerning, the owner repeatedly changed her story afterward. Explanations contradicted her written proposal, her email timestamps, venue communications, and on-site photos. In 20 years of event planning, I have never seen a vendor revise documented facts this many times. Bottom Line This was not a matter of creative interpretation. It was the accumulation of missing décor, incomplete execution, delays, egregious communication, and a clear lack of accountability from start to finish. The proposal looked beautiful, but the delivery did not come close in quality, detail, or care. There are many dependable decorators in Chicago. Choose one of them instead.
SAVE YOUR MONEY
After meeting with my wife and I, Bukky offered to do our wedding pro bono, as she mentioned she wanted to add The Armour House to her portfolio. While this initially seemed generous, her focus on how the venue would benefit her business made us uneasy. Based on our experience, I would not recommend hiring Bukky as a planner or florist. The fees charged do not reflect the level of service we received. She lacks accountability and did not treat us with kindness and respect. On the day of our wedding, our décor did not arrive until 4:30pm—only 15 minutes before guests began arriving. Exquisite was still setting up as our guests entered, which felt disruptive and unprofessional. Several décor items we had agreed upon were also missing, and the overall design did not match the inspiration photos we had shared in advance. In the days following the wedding, we did not receive any communication from Bukky about what went wrong, nor did she proactively offer a refund for the missing items. As newlyweds, we had to reach out ourselves to ask for answers. It was extremely disappointing to have to chase updates rather than receive transparency and accountability. I also did not feel that Bukky prioritized us as a couple. From our perspective, much of her focus seemed to be on how our wedding could benefit her business rather than on creating the experience we had envisioned. This left us feeling overlooked and unsupported on our day. Exquisite was the only vendor on our wedding day that we had a negative experience with. There are many décor companies or planners that provide far better service and peace of mind—please don’t make the mistake we did by investing here. I am sharing this review based on my direct experience working with Bukky as a wedding vendor. I noticed that she has attempted to have my negative reviews removed from multiple wedding platforms, which I believe reflects a lack of accountability rather than a willingness to improve. In my opinion, transparency is essential in the wedding industry. Not every experience is going to be perfect—and that’s okay. What matters is how vendors handle challenges and respond to feedback. I know I’m not the only one who has had a disappointing experience with Bukky. If you are considering working with her, I strongly recommend reading the 1-star reviews on The Knot. My experience aligns closely with many of the concerns shared there.

Exquisite, Our Wedding At Its Best
We first met Exquisite Events & Floral Design and Bukky Garcia a year before our wedding at the Bridal Expo in Itasca, IL. Bukky’s booth immediately caught our attention—not just because of its elegant setup, but also because of the warmth and professionalism she exuded. From the moment we began speaking with her, it was clear she had a deep passion for what she does, paired with a level of expertise that made us feel instantly at ease. One of the first things that drew us to Bukky was her cultured approach and understanding. As fellow Nigerians, we bonded over our shared background, and this connection was pivotal for us. My wife and I had always envisioned a beautiful Nigerian-American wedding, but we weren’t quite sure how to blend the two cultures seamlessly. Being the first in our immediate families to host a formal wedding, we felt a bit overwhelmed with incorporating Nigerian traditions and customs into the day. Bukky, however, understood our vision right away and reassured us that she would help us create something truly special. While we had already started gathering a few essentials for the big day, Bukky and Exquisite Events & Floral Design stepped in and took it to a whole new level. From coordinating the logistics to fine-tuning every detail, Bukky handled it all with remarkable efficiency. She didn’t just come on board as a wedding planner and designer—she became the guiding force that brought our dream wedding to life. As a groom, I was completely blown away by her attention to detail, impeccable organization, and the way she communicated every step of the process. It wasn’t just about decorations or logistics; it was about her ability to take our ideas and elevate them beyond what we ever thought possible. Bukky shattered every expectation we had, turning our vision into something truly magical. Her expertise and dedication ensured that nothing was overlooked, and her cadence and poise throughout the planning process were second to none. The day of the wedding was nothing short of breathtaking. Bukky and her team transformed our venue in a way that left us and our guests speechless. Even the venue staff remarked that they had never seen their space look the way it did that day. It was as though she had taken a blank canvas and painted the most beautiful fairytale scene. Every arrangement, every detail, every touch was executed to perfection. But beyond her incredible work, Bukky gave us something even more meaningful—family. What started as a professional relationship quickly grew into something much deeper. She genuinely cared about us, not just as clients but as individuals. Even now, long after the wedding, we still check in with her from time to time because that bond remains strong. Looking back, we are beyond grateful to have had Bukky and Exquisite Events & Floral Design by our side for one of the most important days of our lives. She didn’t just help us plan a wedding; she created an experience we’ll cherish forever. If you’re looking for someone who can take your vision and make it a reality while surpassing your wildest expectations, look no further than Bukky Garcia. Our wedding was a dream come true, and we owe so much of that to her extraordinary talent and heart.
