Set the Bar Kentucky was founded in 2019 and is owned and operated by Cheryl Knapp, Alvaro Fernandez, Amanda Fernandez, Chelsea Hollingsworth, and Jonathan Hollingsworth. With backgrounds ranging from restaurant management to healthcare, we were looking for a way to serve Lexington and surrounding communities with an unforgettable experience. Founder, Cheryl Knapp, loved that this venture created an outlet for her love of event planning and design as well as used our combined strengths in hospitality, and affection for Kentucky.

Inspired by our surroundings in horse country, we thought it would be appropriate to offer a unique mobile bar experience beginning, with a converted two-horse trailer, aptly named “The Thirsty Mule.”

    The Best Of The Best

    Set The Bar was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding! From our very first call all the way through planning and the big day, they were an absolute dream to work with. They made everything so easy, stress-free, and seamless. On the day of, their team went above and beyond! They made sure everything ran smoothly behind the scenes, took incredible care of our guests, and made everyone feel like VIPs. We heard nonstop compliments about how friendly, fun, and professional they were! If you’re looking for a dependable, talented, and all-around exceptional bartending team for your wedding or event, this is the company! We couldn’t be happier and would recommend Set The Bar a million times over!

We are located in Lexington, serving Fayette county and surrounding areas. However, we do love to travel! Anything outside our 50 mile radius will incur additional fees for mileage and possible lodging expenses. In addition if we are unable to service your area, we are happy to offer recommendations of other companies with whom we network with and trust.
No, due to Kentucky liquor laws we are unable to obtain a liquor license. However we will walk you through ordering, setting up delivery, and any help needed to facilitate your events needs.
Yes, we are covered in both general and liquor liability. We also only staff certified bartenders and attendants.
Clearance and a flat surface for parking the trailer. Access to electricity or advance notice for the need of a generator. Trailer dimensions for The Thirsty Mule are approximately 7 ft wide x 9 ft tall x 14 ft hitch to bumper. This often gives the ability for The Thirsty Mule to bring the party inside!
