“As a wedding photographer, I’ve had the honor of working at many beautiful venues, but capturing the very first wedding at the newly reopened Ola Distillery (formerly the Wainaku Executive Center) was something truly special.
From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly accommodating, especially as the Hilo rain made its appearance. Their team moved with calm professionalism and genuine care, ensuring the couple, guests, and vendor team all felt supported and well taken care of throughout the day. That kind of heart and attentiveness does not go unnoticed.
The new ceremony space inside the old sugar mill tunnel is nothing short of iconic. It carries such rich history while still feeling intentional, and incredibly photogenic. As a storyteller behind the lens, I was inspired at every turn, the textures, the mood, the way the space holds both legacy and celebration so beautifully.
What stood out most to me, though, was the spirit of the place. Even with challenging weather, the Ola Distillery team helped create an experience that felt seamless, joyful, and deeply cared for. You can truly feel that this team has a heart to serve.
I’m so excited to see weddings continue to unfold in this historic space, and I would wholeheartedly recommend Ola Distillery to any couple looking for a venue that blends Hawaiʻi history, thoughtful design, and a team that genuinely shows up for you.
