The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden is better than ever! This crown jewel of the city’s park system unites two of Minnesota’s most cherished resources—its parks and its cultural life. Since opening in 1988, the Garden has welcomed millions of visitors, showcasing more than 40 works from the Walker Art Center’s collections, including the iconic Spoonbridge and Cherry.

The park was originally named Douglas Triangle for the street on which it is located. The name was officially changed to Mt. Curve Triangles (plural), on November 4, 1925, when the previous Mt. Curve Triangle was renamed Fremont Triangle. The park was officially named in honor of Thomas Lowry in 1984. Lowry is best known for developing the street railway system in Minneapolis. The Lowry Hill neighborhood, in which the park is located, was named because he owned most of the land and built his imposing mansion on the hill.

The Hollywood Theater is an iconic Art Deco landmark in Northeast Minneapolis. When it opened in 1936, the theater was described as “the incomparable showcase of the Northwest’’. After years of decline, the theater closed in 1987 and was purchased by the city of Minneapolis. Twenty-five years of inaction and neglect followed until 2014 when the National Park Service recognized the building’s historical significance and listed it on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2015 the theater was sold to Northeast-resident and entrepreneur Andrew Volna, who saved the building and restored its original Art Deco splendor. Today it is ready to host your event.
