A View West Shores was an absolute dream venue for our wedding. From our very first meeting, the staff made us feel so special and welcome, greeting us with a personalized sign and a glass of champagne. The rustic yet elegant charm of The Barn at the Ackerhurst Dairy Farm offers you a truly unique setting in a "one of a kind" historic event venue. The beautiful Dutch Gambrel style barn was built in 1935. A businessman and dairy farmer from Boston named Anthony W. Ackerman hired architect and builder Adolph Otte from the nearby town of Elkhorn, NE., to construct the barn. Upon its completion, the Ackerhurst Dairy Barn was described as the largest barn in Nebraska. The barn is rectangular in shape and is constructed of wood with a concrete block foundation. The Barn is nearly two hundred feet long. The Barn, though constructed as two levels, is as tall as a four-story building. In a newspaper article in the Omaha World Herald, it was described that Ackerhurst Dairy was “one of finest dairy farms in the Midwest”. Mr. Ackermann did not know, back in 1935, that his dream would someday become a location of the beginning of a lot of dreams come true.

What Should You Ask When Touring Nebraska Wedding Venues?

Nebraska's variable climate means you should always ask about weather contingency plans when touring potential venues. You don't want your perfect day ruined by unexpected rain or those famous Nebraska winds. For multipurpose venues like Wilderness Ridge ask about noise restrictions and overtime fees since these can impact your celebration timeline. Getting these details upfront helps you avoid budget surprises later and ensures you're comparing venues accurately.
