My husband and I had our wedding at the Penn Museum last weekend, and we truly cannot recommend it enough! From the moment we started looking at venues, we knew we wanted a museum setting, and the Penn Museum far exceeded every other option we saw. The grand, ornate architecture and the incredible exhibits won us over instantly. We loved that both the outdoor ceremony space and the indoor backup option were equally stunning. Regardless of weather conditions, we knew we’d be happy. The versatility of the venue was another huge plus, with so many beautiful rooms to choose from for each part of the celebration (ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception). Once the museum closes to the public at 5 PM, it essentially becomes yours for the evening. Almost all exhibits are open for guests to explore. Some of our favorite aspects of the venue were our outdoor ceremony in Warden Garden, which allowed for a dramatic processional through the grand brown doors, and cocktail hour in the breathtaking Chinese Rotunda. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about the uniqueness of the venue, the outstanding food, and the warmth of the entire staff. I do highly recommend having a day-of coordinator to assist if you choose Penn Museum, given that it is primarily a museum and that created some added complexities for logistics.

We could not be more thrilled that we chose the College of Physicians as our wedding venue. One of the things we were looking for in a venue was something that would be unique and memorable for our guests...not just a cookie cutter event space. We chose the College of Physicians because it fit the bill perfectly and could not be happier with our choice. From our first tour to the day of our wedding, Michael and his staff went above and beyond to make everything run smoothly and treated us with so much kindness. They are true professionals and we were at ease knowing they had every detail taken care of during our event. The food was also incredible and we are still getting compliments on it from our guests. Thanks so much to Michael and the CBD staff for a truly memorable evening and for all of the support and flexibility through the planning process!

Arch Street Meeting House

5.0

Philadelphia, PA
  • Up to 300 guests
  • Select services
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $2,000

Arch Street Meeting House is a historic wedding venue located in Old City Philadelphia. The land on which Arch Street Meeting House stands was officially deeded to the Quakers in 1701 and used as a burial ground until 1872. The building was constructed in stages from 1803 to 1811 when need arose of a larger meetinghouse in Philadelphia. The site is still an active place of worship in addition to being used as an educational museum space, and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2011. It is frequently rented for conferences, weddings, dinners, and graduations. The building sits on just shy of 2 acres, and our grounds include both grassy & brick spaces and lots of mature trees. The entire site exudes an overall historic charm.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Caters to out-of-town guests
  • Has a dance floor to dance the night away
  • Both indoor and outdoor options

Venue considerations

  • Does not provide event staff
  • Limited cleanup and setup services
  • Lighting and sound are not included
Arch Street Meeting House proved to be the ideal spot for our wedding. Jenn was an absolute pleasure to work with and made sure she understood exactly what we were looking for and how her team could help bring it to fruition. They allowed us to close the grounds to the public so that our guests could mingle and sip champagne outside in the beautiful weather. All of the guests commented on how tangibly historical the venue was and how they loved the simplicity and timelessness of the ceremony space. (Which looks absolutely stunning in the few preview photos we've gotten back.) Because it was so much more affordable, we also decided to hold our rehearsal dinner there and hired a taco truck to act as the caterers. All in all, I can't recommend ASMH or Jenn and the team more highly!!

The MCHC was the greatest place to have a wedding. We got married outside in the courtyard and had the reception in France Hall, which was a great multi-purpose/event room that was easy to use and adapt to our purposes. The staff was extremely friendly and they had an on-site coordinator/assistant there for the rehearsal and day of. When it looked like it might rain and we wouldn’t be able to use the courtyard, they offered to open up another part of the museum to our guests to compensate. They also had a decent amount of parking available to our guests, rare in the middle of Baltimore. Overall I loved having my wedding in such a special place

Westminster Hall and Burying Ground

4.5

Baltimore, MD
  • Up to 250 guests
  • Raw space
  • Indoor
  • Starts at $3,000

People travel far and wide to visit historic Westminster Hall, the Burying Grounds and Catacombs. Guests have the opportunity to explore one of Baltimore’s oldest cemeteries which contains tombs of prominent political, military and business leaders, and the grave of Edgar Allan Poe! Westminster Hall, formerly a Presbyterian church has a unique combination of early Gothic Revival appearances, mixed with today’s modern conveniences. The restored Gothic church has elegant stained glass windows, carved oak woodwork and an 1882 Johnson pipe organ. People appreciate Westminster's prime location at the corner of Fayette and Greene Streets in downtown Baltimore. Immediately adjacent are the University of Maryland Baltimore, University of Maryland Medical Center, Maryland Bar Center, and Baltimore VA Medical Center. Within walking distance are Oriole Park, M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore's Inner Harbor, the Convention Center, and major hotels, retailers and businesses.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Provides a dedicated team on-site
  • Exudes old-world charm
  • Creates a sense of togetherness

Venue considerations

  • On-site parking not available
  • No built-in audiovisual options
  • No on-premises lodging options
Overall, we loved our wedding here! We picked this venue in part because it’s so beautiful that the decor we would need to do would be minimal. We were right about that, and there was even some decor provided by the venue in the form of trees with lights. The organ is absolutely beautiful. There is an inside area with a table that’s perfect for cards, seating charts, and a guest book. The layout with upper areas around the organ makes a nice configuration for guest seating. The biggest downside was the bridal getting ready suite is very small and there isn’t a separate area for the groom, so we got ready and took pictures at a nearby hotel. The grounds are also lovely and were great for first look pictures in the graveyard (which is permissible if done tastefully). You can pay an extra 100/hour for the guests to tour the catacombs under the church, which was a nice touch. My other complaint was the technical difficulties — we couldn’t get the microphone at the podium to work so we had to project, and the bass in the music using their auxiliary system kept going in and out. The grounds keeper kept an eye on things for us in terms of crowd control and lighting.

We held our wedding reception at the B&O Railroad Museum and it was a perfect venue for our special day. Kathy, our main contact, was extremely responsive in answering all of our questions during the planning process. The museum was an air conditioned, spacious room that comfortably accommodated our 60 guests. We loved being able to take photos with the historic trains as a backdrop. The B&O staff, especially Kathy, ensured the room was properly set up, clean, and ready for our event. From start to finish, they made the experience nearly flawless. It was a beautiful, family-friendly atmosphere that lent itself well to celebration. I would highly recommend the B&O Railroad Museum as a unique and memorable wedding venue.
