Our names are Craig and Nancy Rogge, and we have lived on and owned this property for almost 40 years. We have raised two children here and have used our barns and property all these years to raise horses, cows, chickens, ducks, rabbits, cats, and dogs. We have many years of wonderful memories and stories on our little piece of paradise! Our barns were built in 1944 by a previous owner, Walter Kurzweil, who our street is named after and who used the property and barns for a dairy farm. Fast forward to 2021, when we began The Rogge Family Vineyard and Event Space, our hope has been and still is to offer a private party rental space rich in rustic barn charm for the hosting of your joyful and memorable event.

Most rustic Kansas City venues provide core infrastructure—tables, chairs, and basic lighting—but expect to rent linens, décor elements, and often catering equipment separately. The rustic aesthetic typically emphasizes natural elements like exposed beams, wood finishes, and open spaces, giving you a beautiful canvas that requires less heavy decoration.
Kansas City's weather matters: spring and fall are ideal, but summer heat and occasional spring rain mean outdoor spaces may need tent coverage or climate control. Many rustic venues in neighborhoods like Brookside and the Crossroads offer flexible indoor-outdoor layouts to handle variable conditions.
Most venues allow significant décor customization—string lights, greenery, and vintage accents blend seamlessly with rustic settings. Before booking, confirm what's included (tables, restrooms, parking), what requires rental, and whether the venue provides an in-house caterer or allows outside options. This clarity ensures your rustic vision comes together smoothly.
Most rustic venues come with basic structural décor already built into the space—think exposed wood beams, stone fireplaces, or vintage architectural details that serve as your backdrop. What's included varies widely by venue, so it's important to ask specifically about:
- Tables, chairs, and linens
- Lighting (string lights, chandeliers, or uplighting)
- Bar setup and serving stations
- Kitchen and prep areas
Many rustic venues encourage customization because their natural aesthetic is already charming. You can typically add florals, centerpieces, signage, and personal touches without heavy restrictions. According to Zola marketplace data, rustic venues have a median starting price of $4,100 across the US, which is slightly lower than the overall venue average—often because the venue's inherent character reduces the need for extensive built-in décor.
Always confirm what's included in your rental fee versus what requires outside vendors or additional costs. Some venues offer package deals that bundle linens and basic lighting, while others charge à la carte. This clarity upfront helps you budget accurately for your customization plans.
For a 100-guest wedding in Kansas City, you can expect to spend between $24,100 and $36,200, according to the Zola Wedding Cost Index. This is notably higher than the national median of $25,000, reflecting Kansas City's vibrant wedding market.
Your largest expenses typically break down as:
- Florists: $4,696
- Venues: $3,914
- Videographers: $3,194
- Catering: $3,131
- Photographers: $2,870
Venues represent about 13% of your total budget. Keep in mind that venue and catering combined account for roughly 41% of wedding costs nationally, so choosing the right venue and meal service is one of your most impactful decisions.
Venue size should match your guest count and budget. Here's how Kansas City wedding budgets scale across different party sizes, based on the Zola Wedding Cost Index:
- 50 guests: $14,700 – $22,100 total
- 100 guests: $24,100 – $36,200 total
- 150 guests: $33,000 – $49,500 total
- 200 guests: $40,900 – $61,300 total
- 300 guests: $56,600 – $84,900 total
Based on Zola marketplace data, Kansas City venues range from $3,000 to $8,500. Smaller, intimate venues work well for 50–75 guests, while mid-size spaces (75–150) offer flexibility, and larger ballrooms or event spaces suit 150+ guests. Your venue choice directly impacts catering costs, so confirm capacity and included amenities before committing.
