Medium venues for 51–150 guests are the most common, with eight options starting from $7,300. This range pairs well with the standard 100-guest benchmark wedding budget of $37,200–$55,700, giving you flexibility to allocate funds across catering, florals, and photography.

Whether you're planning an intimate gathering or a sprawling celebration, rustic San Diego venues accommodate all group sizes.

Rustic San Diego venues typically provide core infrastructure—tables, chairs, and ambient lighting—suited to outdoor or semi-outdoor spaces. However, you'll usually need to rent linens, centerpieces, and specialty décor (string lights, lanterns, or signage) to achieve your specific vision.
Expect flexibility with styling. Most rustic venues in neighborhoods like Coronado, Mission Valley, and the Balboa Park area encourage personal touches, from wildflower arrangements to vintage accents. San Diego's mild climate makes year-round outdoor ceremonies feasible, though late afternoon events let you capitalize on golden hour light over the Pacific or gardens.
Many venues include catering partnerships or allow outside caterers—confirm your venue's policy early. Because rustic properties often sit on larger acreage, guest parking and restroom facilities vary; ask about these logistics upfront. Finally, rustic doesn't mean no-frills: top-rated venues like Forgotten Barrel Winery offer all-inclusive packages that handle décor, coordination, and vendor vetting for you.
Most rustic venues come with basic structural décor already built into the space—think exposed wood beams, stone fireplaces, or vintage architectural details that serve as your backdrop. What's included varies widely by venue, so it's important to ask specifically about:
- Tables, chairs, and linens
- Lighting (string lights, chandeliers, or uplighting)
- Bar setup and serving stations
- Kitchen and prep areas
Many rustic venues encourage customization because their natural aesthetic is already charming. You can typically add florals, centerpieces, signage, and personal touches without heavy restrictions. According to Zola marketplace data, rustic venues have a median starting price of $4,100 across the US, which is slightly lower than the overall venue average—often because the venue's inherent character reduces the need for extensive built-in décor.
Always confirm what's included in your rental fee versus what requires outside vendors or additional costs. Some venues offer package deals that bundle linens and basic lighting, while others charge à la carte. This clarity upfront helps you budget accurately for your customization plans.
According to the Zola Wedding Cost Index, a wedding for 100 guests in San Diego typically costs $37,200–$55,700. This is notably higher than the national median of $25,000, reflecting San Diego's competitive venue and catering market.
Here's how that budget typically breaks down:
- Venues: $8,086 (17% of total)
- Catering: $6,469
- Florists: $5,930
- Bar Services: $5,175
- Photographers: $3,612
- Videographers: $3,267
- Wedding Planners: $3,666
Venue and catering together account for roughly 41% of your total spend. Based on Zola marketplace data, San Diego venue rental prices range from $1,500–$10,000, with a median of $3,750.
Your guest count directly shapes your budget and venue search. Here's how San Diego couples typically budget by size:
- 50 guests: $22,300–$33,500 total
- 100 guests: $37,200–$55,700 total
- 150 guests: $51,100–$76,600 total
- 200 guests: $63,500–$95,300 total
- 250 guests: $75,900–$113,900 total
- 300 guests: $88,300–$132,500 total
When evaluating venues, ask about minimum guest counts and per-person pricing if catering is included. Smaller, more intimate venues often work beautifully for 50–75 guests, while larger estates, banquet halls, and waterfront properties typically accommodate 150+ guests. Consider whether your venue includes tables, chairs, and basic setup—this affects overall value.
