Welcome to 223 Main! Located in the Heart of Downtown Lemont’s historical district, just three doors down from the Metra Station, 223 Main boasts a storied origin. Initially built in the 1900s as a double storefront, it transformed throughout the century into a department store, political office, coffee shop, and now an event space. 223 Main is owned and operated by a local Lemont couple, Hector and Lauren Tamayo. Hector grew up in Lemont and always loved the downtown area. At the beginning of 2020, the coffee shop leasing the space decided to close down. While brainstorming what the building could be next, the Covid-19 Pandemic hit. Lauren and Hector decided to cancel their destination wedding and remodel 223 Main. After having their intimate wedding at the building, they decided to officially launch 223 Main and open the space up to the community to enjoy.

Yes. Neighborhoods like West Loop and River North offer rustic venues with industrial charm and proximity to Chicago's downtown attractions, Lake Michigan, and the Chicago River. Rustic venues in Chicago typically offer raw architectural bones—exposed brick, wood beams, concrete floors, or barn structures—that require minimal décor investment but benefit from strategic styling. Most include basic tables, chairs, and lighting infrastructure, though you'll likely need to rent linens, uplighting, and additional décor to soften the space and achieve your aesthetic.
Be prepared for Chicago's weather: venues in neighborhoods like Logan Square or Wicker Park may have limited climate control, so plan for HVAC needs in summer or heating in cooler months. Ask about kitchen access and vendor policies—rustic spaces often welcome external caterers and florists, giving you flexibility to customize. Pro tip: these venues often photograph beautifully and require less floral volume than traditional ballrooms, helping you stretch your $7,612 florist budget further while creating dramatic, intimate atmospheres.
Most rustic venues come with basic structural décor already built into the space—think exposed wood beams, stone fireplaces, or vintage architectural details that serve as your backdrop. What's included varies widely by venue, so it's important to ask specifically about:
- Tables, chairs, and linens
- Lighting (string lights, chandeliers, or uplighting)
- Bar setup and serving stations
- Kitchen and prep areas
Many rustic venues encourage customization because their natural aesthetic is already charming. You can typically add florals, centerpieces, signage, and personal touches without heavy restrictions. According to Zola marketplace data, rustic venues have a median starting price of $4,100 across the US, which is slightly lower than the overall venue average—often because the venue's inherent character reduces the need for extensive built-in décor.
Always confirm what's included in your rental fee versus what requires outside vendors or additional costs. Some venues offer package deals that bundle linens and basic lighting, while others charge à la carte. This clarity upfront helps you budget accurately for your customization plans.
For a 100-guest wedding in Chicago, plan to spend $46,400–$69,600, according to the Zola Wedding Cost Index. This is significantly higher than the national median of $25,000, reflecting Chicago's status as a major metro area.
Here's where that budget typically goes:
- Venues: $10,875 (19% of total)
- Catering: $8,700
- Florists: $7,612
- Bar services: $6,960
- Photographers: $4,930
- Videographers: $4,495
- Planners: $3,927
Venue and catering alone represent about 41% of your total spend. If you're working with a smaller or larger guest list, adjust accordingly: 50 guests run $27,600–$41,400, while 150 guests average $64,100–$96,100.
Chicago venues range widely in capacity, and matching the right space to your headcount keeps costs reasonable and ensures comfort. Here's how budget scales with guest size:
- 50 guests: $27,600–$41,400 total (intimate gatherings)
- 100 guests: $46,400–$69,600 (standard benchmark)
- 150 guests: $64,100–$96,100 (larger celebrations)
- 200 guests: $79,800–$119,800 (expansive affairs)
Based on Zola marketplace data, Chicago venues typically start from $3,500 for smaller spaces, with the median around $6,250 and premium options reaching $14,500+. Once you know your headcount, look for venues with natural capacity slightly above your number—this gives breathing room without excessive empty space. Remember to factor in ceremony and cocktail areas if your venue needs to serve multiple functions.
