About Maya Papaya Pictures

Maya

Owner

So here's the tea... I'm a wise-cracking, extroverted Capricorn who excels at corralling your rowdy family for photos and charming Aunt Carol, the self-deemed professional iPad photographer. Ever since I was little, huddled on the couch with my five siblings rewatching The Lion King, I knew that I wanted to be a storyteller. Growing up in a creative household, I studied a wide range of arts before settling on filmmaking. I envisioned in my head that I would be the next Spielberg, but after shooting my first wedding in 2013 all my plans changed.

I first started in this industry as a filmmaker and transitioned to doing weddings after shooting my first one in 2013. Because of my background, I approach each wedding as if it were a film and make sure your photos have the best lighting, angles and that you and your partner feel comfortable being in front of the camera.

Maya is your #1 choice for your wedding!

Maya is undeniably one of the best wedding photographers out there! She is bubbly, funny, and has an amazing eye for candids. When researching different options, one of my top priorities was finding someone who could bring my husband and I out of our shells and into the spotlight comfortably. Maya did so effortlessly! We also loved how she took the lead on directing our friends and family during the portraits while keeping it light and fun. Everyone was raving about her the next day. And of course, the photos are STUNNING. Maya is the whole package and we definitely recommend her for your engagement photos and wedding day!

Of course I love meeting couples! It's not a requirement for me but if you're local then I'd love to meet with you at a local coffee shop. Also If we meet up your coffee is on me.
A retainer is the portion of payment that locks in your vendor. To book me a flat fee of $500 is required upon signing. The remaining balance is due 30 days before your wedding.
I will send you an online gallery with a sneak peek of your images within 24 hours of your session. Remaining engagement session images will be delivered within 4 weeks, Weddings will be delivered within 6-8 weeks.
You can definitely include additions to your package. So if you want to add on more time and a photo booth, just let me know. I will make sure to lock in the changes for you accordingly.
Of course! It's personally one of my favorite parts of the wedding planning process. I book downtime into your day so you don't feel rushed. I'm available to you as a resource whenever you need it
HELL YEAH! My business a safe space for LGBTQ couples.
That's totally fine. If I can I like to meet up ahead of the wedding date a check out the venue. I come to each wedding with all my equipment so that I can make sure that I'm prepared for any situation.
Typically, couples book me about 13 months before their wedding date. I encourage you to reach out as soon as possible about my availability, even if you’re planning on a shorter time frame.
Definitely. All final images will be edited for color, saturation, exposure, and sharpness to ensure they look beautiful. I also offer retouching services like blemish removal and teeth whitening for an additional charge.
Sometimes, I’ll bring one or more assistant photographers depending on the size of your wedding. Don’t worry, this won’t cost you extra.
Yes, I contract the video shooting to a trusted vendor but I do the video editing.
My turnaround time varies by season. Typically, you’ll be able to view your photos online about 4-8 weeks after your wedding. Within this time, you can also expect an online gallery with high-resolution image files, so you can share the photos with your loved ones and order prints.
You can expect about 80 to 100 images per hour of photographing. But keep in mind this estimate varies depending on your wedding package, number of guests, venue type, and other factors.
I do! Just let me know if your venue requires a certificate of liability, and I’ll send that over to them.
In my 6 years of experience as a wedding photographer, I’ve never canceled a booking. In the very rare event that I’m unable to photograph your wedding, I’ll make sure you’re covered by one of my colleagues or my contracted assistant. I’ll also provide you with a list of photographers from the many networking groups I’m in, so you can find the perfect replacement.
