Cinematographer

Jordan Shankman is an Atlanta-based photographer, cinematographer and independent filmmaker with technical expertise for multi-media design and a passion for storytelling. He was born in Atlanta, Ga and graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2012 with a B.F.A in Film and Television and a Minor in Cinema Studies. His work has garnered recognition from The Telluride Film Festival, The Nottingham International Film Festival, Kodak, Hasselblad and Ilford Photo. His knowledge and dedication, methodical execution and loyalty to his collaborators is the foundation and driving force behind his work.

My cinematography services are tailored to the couple looking for that something different, organic, unobtrusive. I believe in real things, textures, images you can hold, and my film packages are designed not just for the here and now, but to spark the imaginations of future generations.  I don't have set times, I arrive early to take my time capturing the character of your venue, and my style is that of a guest with a camera. Vintage film is the definition of Wabi-Sabi. A beauty of things imperfect.

The wedding day itself is photographed and filmed entirely on 16mm film, but I can offer digital coverage of the ceremony for couples who want a full uninterrupted archival version of the vows and speeches in addition to the film edit.
My work is primarily centered around music-driven highlight films built through image, atmosphere, movement, and emotion rather than heavy dialogue or documentary-style edits. That said, professional audio coverage of the ceremony, vows, and speeches can absolutely be incorporated by request for couples who want those moments preserved more traditionally alongside the film.

I shoot weddings entirely on real 16mm motion picture film. Not digital footage made to look vintage, but actual Kodak motion picture film. The result feels tactile, cinematic, emotional, and timeless in a way digital rarely does. My approach is heavily documentary-driven and focused on capturing moments as they unfold naturally rather than staging the day around content creation.
