With over 20 years of professional film experience, and a broad range of productions from feature films, commercials, music videos and wedding films; I've come to understand the ins and outs, and needs, of every production I get my hands on. ​ I love telling stories, whether they're the stories of your business, or the story of your LOVE on your BIG DAY. I'm there to capture each, and every, one of those moments with cinematic style and flare. ​ Trust me with your business, film, story concept, or wedding day -- I'll be there!

    Wow wow!

    Wow, just wow. Derek blew any and all of our expectations out of the water with our wedding video. So so glad we decided to do a wedding video and even more glad that we picked Derek to do the job. He captured our love and our day perfectly and I cannot stop watching the video.

    Flawless!

    Derek was wonderful! He created an amazing unique highlight video of our day which brings us in our family so much joy. He also captured the ceremony and its entirety the speeches and our first dance flawlessly. We are so happy we trusted him to capture our wedding and we are so grateful for the videos!

    HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

    I’m incredibly happy with Derek James Videography, our wedding plans changed somewhat last minute, and we ended up doing a small wedding in my hometown in New Mexico. He took the time to travel 3 hours to come be with us for our wedding! He’s so good at what he does and not only is he professional but he is also very personable. Worth every dollar spent for sure! Yes! I film elopements and love the more intimate, personal feel they can have. I offer shorter coverage options that are great for smaller weddings and elopements, while still capturing the ceremony, vows, portraits, and the moments that make the day feel special.
Absolutely! I love destination weddings and am happy to travel throughout Arizona, across the U.S., or internationally. I’ve had the opportunity to film weddings in some incredible places, including Ireland. Travel costs vary depending on the location, so just reach out with your plans and I’d be happy to put together a custom quote.
I personally edit every wedding film myself. Unlike many videographers who outsource post-production, I stay involved from filming through the final edit so I can make sure the pacing, music, emotion, and overall story feel right. It’s important to me that the finished film reflects the day the way I experienced and captured it.
Yes! Same-day edits are available depending on the wedding timeline and scope. They work best when there’s enough time built into the day for editing, and they typically require some additional production support. If that’s something you’re interested in, I’d be happy to talk through what would be possible for your wedding.
For most weddings, one videographer is plenty (which is typically myself), especially with a well-planned timeline. For larger weddings, multiple locations, or if you want more simultaneous coverage of both sides of the day, two videographers can be a great option. I’m happy to recommend what makes the most sense based on your timeline and priorities.
