About this venue
The El Rey Theatre is an original art deco theatre in the heart of the Miracle Mile. Upon entering the venue, you are welcomed by one of the most ornate marquees in Los Angeles, as you enter the venue, the walls are painted a deep red and the walls and ceilings are covered in chandeliers that glow with pin spot LED lighting, mixing old with the new.

The El Rey
The El Rey Theatre is an original art deco theatre in the heart of the Miracle Mile, one of Los Angeles' preserved art deco districts.
The El Rey was built in 1936 and designed by Clifford Balch. After more than 50 years as a first-class movie house, the El Rey was converted into a live music venue in 1994. A registered Historic-Cultural Monument, the El Rey has sweeping staircases, VIP balcony lounge, and a grand ballroom equipped with a full stage.

Working with The El Rey Theatre has been an absolute pleasure thus far! We had a wonderful experience working at the El Rey Theatre. The venue is absolutely stunning, with beautiful Art Deco architecture, elegant staircases, and a unique historic atmosphere that creates an unforgettable backdrop for any event. The space feels intimate while still accommodating a large guest count comfortably. The venue staff was professional, responsive, and easy to work with throughout the planning process and event day. Load-in and vendor coordination were smooth, and the team was accommodating to both vendors and guests. One of the standout features is the character of the venue. It offers a one-of-a-kind Los Angeles experience that photographs beautifully and creates a memorable guest experience.
