The main dining room is a spacious, open area with hardwood floors and sliding glass doors overlooking the deck and backyard.

The space has an adjacent commercially-styled kitchen, a large buffet-style bar with an ice maker and wine refrigerator, a fireplace, a baby grand piano, a small serving bar, several lounge areas and, at the center, the grand spiral staircase. The event room is a warm and inviting space with sliding glass doors overlooking the backyard and barn style doors that open to the driveway.

This spaces has an adjacent catering prep kitchen and a service bar. Capacity, seated at banquet tables: 150, seated at round tables: 100, seated at Farm Style tables: 120. The backyard patio can also be used in conjunction and can be tented for additional covered seating.     Dream Spot For A Wedding!

    The Black Stallion was the perfect venue for our wedding day. From the moment we reached out, the caretaker and house team were incredibly responsive, helpful, and accommodating. They took the time to show us around the venue, answer all our questions, and provide valuable vendor recommendations and planning tips. On the day of, the venue was meticulously maintained, spotlessly clean, and offered so many beautiful options for our ceremony and reception. Everything went off without a hitch, and our guests raved about the stunning setting. We had the best day ever at The Black Stallion, and we couldn't recommend them more highly!

The Black Stallion is located in the gated Currituck Club golf community in the Corolla Township section of Currituck County on The Outer Banks. The Outer Banks are barrier islands separating the Atlantic Ocean from mainland North Carolina. The Outer Banks are known around the world for their subtropical climate and wide expanse of open beachfront.
No. The Black Stallion is easily accessible off Route 12, and you will not require any special type of vehicle to get to it.
The Currituck Club exclusive southern beach access point is approximately 5 minutes from The Black Stallion by car, and 7 minutes from The Black Stallion by the Currituck Club community trolley. The trolley service is provided at NO CHARGE to guests of The Black Stallion, and it runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day, from 9:00am until the last trip from the beach at 6:30pm.
We are accepting reservations for all available weeks in 2021, 2022, and 2023! To make a reservation, please email us at events@blackstallionobx.com. To confirm your reservation, you will need to sign the lease and pay 5% of the rental amount. Within 30 days of signing the lease agreement, 45% of the rental amount is payable and the remaining balance is payable 90 days before your arrival date.
Yes, we are accepting reservations for 2025 and 2026. The calendar for 2027 should be available shortly, but in the meantime, we are accepting pre-booking holds.
Yes. For the 2020, 2021, and 2022 rental seasons: -minimum 7-night rental periods (w/Sunday check-in and check-out) for stays initiating in May, June, Sept, Oct, and Nov. minimum 5-night rental periods (w/any day check-in and check-out) for stays initiating in April and August -minimum 4-night rental periods (w/any day check-in and check-out) for stays initiating in Jan, Feb, March, July, and Dec.
Check-out time: 10am Check-in time: 4pm Generally, we cannot offer late check-out. Our team is very busy on turnover days cleaning and inspecting The Black Stallion to ensure that the property is ready for newly arriving guests.
The rental rate includes accommodations and full access to the grounds of The Black Stallion. Your stay dispensers with conditioning shampoo and body wash in every shower, the first roll of toilet paper and hand soap in every bathroom, and starter paper towels, laundry detergent, and dishwasher detergent.
Guests at The Black Stallion also enjoy discounted rounds of golf at the award-winning Currituck Club; access to all of The Currituck Club amenities, including free trolley service to the beach and beach valet service; discounts at many local restaurants and shops; and concierge service from The Black Stallion’s private Caretaker.
The Black Stallion does not charge an event fee, but a minimum $1,000,000 Event Liability Insurance policy is required. In addition, KEES charges a home service fee of $125 for each reservation, and there are state and local taxes of approximately 12.8% of the rental rate. And finally, there is $3,000 security deposit that is fully refundable if no damage to The Black Stallion is detected. (Guests may opt for a $99 damage insurance policy in lieu of the deposit.) We also ask that all guests with events having a guest count of 75 or more, have at minimum, professional day-of coordination provided by an insured vendor.
The pool at The Black Stallion is open each year from April 1 - November 1. There is a fee to have the pool heated (for months other than July and August, when the pool heater is not available for use because the outside temperature is warm enough to keep the pool heated to a comfortable level on its own).
Here is the pool heating fee schedule: April 1 – April 15: $2,000 per week (or the equivalent per day) April 16 – April 29: $1,500 per week (or the equivalent per day) May 1 – September 30: $1,000 per week (or the equivalent per day) October 1 – October 15: $1,500 per week (or the equivalent per day) October 16 – November 1: $2,000 per week (or the equivalent per day)
The Black Stallion has two hot tubs, one at the pool area and the other in the downstairs picnic area (just outside the Lounge and Game Room). Back-up parts for each of the key components of the pool area hot tub are stored on-site in order to enable this key amenity can be repaired quickly if any of the key component parts fails to perform as expected.

Yes. The Black Stallion’s door widths: elevators: 34”, public bathrooms on ground floor of main house: 34”, public bathrooms on ground floor of cabana house (outside entrance): 35”, all bedrooms: 34”. We completed a construction to widen the bathroom door in the Catalina bedroom to 34”. We also lowered the step leading to the shower of the Catalina bathroom so a wheelchair can easily go over it

The Black Stallion has ice-makers in the freezer of the primary catering kitchen, in the bar area of the main floor (outside the primary catering kitchen), and in the bar area on the bottom floor. In addition, The Black Stallion has an ice-making machine in the catering prep kitchen on the bottom floor.
The dining room at The Black Stallion has 6 round tables, 4 oblong tables, and 53 chairs. There are also 8 wooden picnic tables for outdoor dining under the deck outside the bar area on the ground floor.
The indoor event room can seat up to 125-150 guests. The pool area (tables lined around the pool) can seat up to 150 guests, and you can add tables on the side yard lawn outside of the pool area to accommodate more guest dining. Alternatively, you can arrange tables on the lawn in the back yard or in the driveway; each of these locations can seat up to 150 guests.

The Currituck Club community rules allow you outdoor music until 10pm. One of the unique features of The Black Stallion is privacy, as the property has no direct neighbors is surrounded on all sides by trees. We request that you direct the outdoor music toward the woods and golf course and away from the street, and turn the music volume down after 10pm. After 10pm, party can be continued inside.
The event room at The Black Stallion is 35 feet by 50 feet. The wall overlooking the back yard is a series of sliding glass doors which can be opened for easy flow into the back yard. The wall opposite that faces the driveway has three large barn style doors which can also be opened to expand the event area into the driveway.
Yes! The Black Stallion can accommodate up to a 30' x 30' tent in the back yard. The back yard can also accommodate an adjacent 15' x 15' tent for a band. The side yard (between the event room and the pool area) can accommodate a 20' x 20' tent.
Yes! You can rent flooring from Ocean Atlantic Event Rentals to cover the shallow end of the pool, creating a gorgeous setting for you and your guests to dance under the stars.
Yes, we had a wooden bridge custom built for The Black Stallion in order to enable the platform in the center of the pool to be easily accessed during events. The most frequent uses of the platform are: 1) location for a Sweetheart Table, 2) location for a bride and groom’s first dance, and 3) location for a cake display and/or a cake-cutting ceremony.
The Black Stallion has enough electrical outlets for most event purposes, but some bands have specific power requirements. For that reason, we recommend that you rent a generator from Ocean Atlantic Event Rentals or Metro Rentals. Both companies can guide you to the best model for your band’s needs.
The Black Stallion has 24 parking spaces, one for each bedroom.
The Currituck Club community does not allow trailers or U-Hauls to be parked in the driveway, other than for short-term drop-offs and pick-ups. The golf club may have a place for you to store your trailer or U-Haul. If you are hosting an event at The Black Stallion, please contact events@blackstallionobx.com for more info.
The Currituck Club community reserves the right to tow cars that are parked illegally on the street, or in the cul-de-sac.
Yes, guests of The Black Stallion can enjoy all of the amenities offered by The Currituck Club, including the golf course (discounted), the fitness center, 3 outdoor fitness stations, 3 community pools, Tiki bar, Door to Shore service, trolley transportation, basketball courts, tennis, bocce, volleyball, shuffleboard, beach access, beach valet and many more.
It is given at the Currituck Club fitness center. Wristbands are required to utilize The Currituck Club amenities. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, wristbands should be worn at all times while on community property.
The closest trolley pick-up point is at the corner of Hunt Club Drive and Herring Gull Court, which is a 3 minute walk from The Black Stallion. The Currituck Club has also agreed to send the trolley right to the Black Stallion for pickups if you call them at 252-453-4011. If you do request a pickup, please make sure that your group is ready to board when the trolley arrives.
The trolley is a convenient way to get to and from the beach, the fitness center, and the golf course. The Currituck Club has wheelchair-accessible trolleys with lifts. When calling for the trolley service, please mention that you will need a vehicle with this capability. The Currituck Club has introduced a trolley tracker app that you might find helpful.
The Black Stallion is less than a mile from the Harris Teeter grocery store, and other shops and restaurants. You can walk, drive, or rent a golf cart from a local vendor.

UPS, DHL, and FedEx packages can be delivered directly to The Black Stallion. USPS deliveries will be returned to sender. For larger items, or to answer any questions you may have about deliveries, it would be best to call KEES Vacations (866-316-1843).
The closest major airport, Norfolk International Airport, is approximately 91 miles away. Charter flights are available from Pine Island Airport which is approximately 3.5 miles away and First Flight Airport which is approximately 22 miles away.
Most major rental car companies have cars available at Norfolk International Airport. The closest car rental company, Enterprise Rental Car, is located in Kill Devil Hills approximately 20 miles away.
The kegs for The Black Stallion are cleaned on a regular basis and supplied with CO2. You can arrange for the kegs to be filled by Brew Dolly (252-453-3663), or by any other vendor you choose.
All guests who have signed a lease are subject to the terms of the lease agreement. If you have a reservation at The Black Stallion and need to cancel for any reason, please contact us at events@blackstallionobx.com as soon as possible. We will make every effort to re-book The Black Stallion to a new guest, but any shortfall in the rental fee for that week will be your responsibility.
The Black Stallion currently provides two high chairs. If you would like to rent cribs or other equipment for very young children during your stay, The Black Stallion also has a play area on the top floor that is designed specifically for very young children. You should bring your own favorite toys, however.

Yes. We have parking on site for at least 24 vehicles, but space can be maximized to accommodate more vehicle. For needs beyond this, please reach out to our team with questions.
While we are technicall, not "accessible", we do have a portable ramp you can borrow, two elevators. and at least one bedroom that has a doorway wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair.
