About this venue

We operate two related spaces two blocks apart - the Sumner Center (indoor) and the Edwin Smith House grounds (outdoor). The Sumner Center is a newly renovated event space in historic downtown Wellington Kansas. We emphasize comfort, accessibility, inclusivity and adaptability within an industrial style space. We sport a mid-century modern influenced decor that we soften with fabric and flowers. Within the Sumner Center we also host local artists, music and entrepreneurial events in an effort to support downtown revitalization. The Edwin Smith House, built in the 1930s, is a pink, Spanish Revival structure on the National Historic Register. The grounds are available for outdoor weddings, reunions, and engagement photos. Installation of fencing, fountains, and flowers are planned. The combination of the Sumner Center and the Edwin Smith House allows us to provide the benefits of both indoor and outdoor, modern and historic within a 5 minute walk.     Great Facility to Work With

    We celebrated our 20th High School Class Reunion at The Sumner Center. Working with Barry and Becky was easy and wonderful! We very much appreciate their hospitality and generosity. The space was very clean and exceptionally cool temperature wise during the extreme heat. We loved having nice big bathrooms with lots of stalls to handle our large guest volume. Thank you, Summer Center team!

The Sumner Center is wheelchair accessible. We also have ramps at the main entrance. Accessibility features are planned for the Edwin smith House grounds.
We include Client purchased Event Liability Insurance in our pricing an simply the process of obtaining it. Additional insurance for weather or related cancellation factors is available at the Client's option and expense.
Yes, provided that it needs to be served by a licensed and insured bar caterer.
Street parking and the City lot (between the Sumner Center and the Edwin Smith House) is available for free. Valet services can be added.

The Sumner Center is located roughly a half hour from the Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport (commercial flights). The City of Wellington's Municipal Airport (KEGT) is three miles away by car (private flights).
Booking fees for our facilities, and all payments made including deposits, are non-refundable. If you cancel your event within 40 days of your booked date, we’ll bill you the full amount of all estimated charges.
