Originally built in 1929, the two-story historic Spanish-style clubhouse houses the classic ballroom, two wedding suites, and opulent foyer. Our 2,640-square-foot banquet room accommodates over 175 guests and features high, vaulted ceilings with eight sets of beautiful French doors opening to our adjacent private patio. Your reception will feel drawn straight from a fairy tale with the rose gardens, scenic paths, scalloped adornments, exquisite china, and original dance floor.

Elegant and Well-Organized Venue and Team
My husband and I had the most seamless experience working with the team at Recreation 18. A specific shout-out to Mayra (Food and Beverage Director) and Sarah Martineck (Venue and Event Director). These two ladies continuously went above and beyond to answer any and every question and genuinely cared about making sure we had the most beautiful, stress-free wedding. When we booked with Recreation 18, we first fell in love with the local venue and the gorgeous Spanish ballroom and the intimate private gazebo garden. We were given a tour by Mayra, who is incredibly knowledgeable about the venue and all the services offered. We could tell how passionate she was about the food and beverage side of event planning and she truly sold us on the venue. Booking the venue was straightforward and the team at Rec. 18 did a wonderful job explaining all the little details about creating our wedding package, and were also extremely patient with us as we quoted multiple different scenarios (e.g. what if we added this but took off that...what would our price be then?). Mayra's Food and Beverage team worked tirelessly on the day of the event and made sure everyone had enough food and drinks, and kept the line for the buffet at an efficient pace. All of her staff are highly professional, courteous and positive. We could not have asked for a better Food and Beverage team or a better director than Mayra. When Sarah Martineck took over as our point-person for the wedding, she was taking over for another individual due to unforeseen circumstances, just 2 months before the wedding. At first, we were worried that there wouldn't be enough time for Sarah to fully transition over to handle our event, however, our fears were for nothing. Sarah picked up right where the other event director left off and hit the ground running. She memorized details of our plan and package down to the last minute detail. She was fast at answering questions and was very flexible with all our requests, changes and directions. We are incredibly indebted to Sarah for helping our dream day come together. On the day of our wedding, my husband and I experienced the most STRESS FREE day that it was hard for other people to believe how relaxed we both were. We went about our day with full, uncompromised confidence that the team at Recreation 18 knew our wedding plan and would execute everything perfectly. The pricing and packages offered by Recreation 18 are incomparable to other venues and services. They were incredibly budget friendly without sacrificing any of the luxuries -- the food was delicious and fresh with lots of options to choose from, they offer various tiers of a full bar service, the reception ballroom has such exquisite architecture that I didn't feel the need to add many more decorations so as not to take away from the structural aesthetic. Our wedding was everything we could have asked for and more. We highly recommend this venue, but more importantly, the team. We would choose to work with the Recreation 18 team time and time again, and you should too! (Final shoutout to Mayra and Sarah M. and Ryan and Ben!) You guys are amazing 3

Your Long Beach dream destination venue awaits
Recreation Park Golf Course 18 was the perfect venue for our wedding day. From our first visit through the ceremony, Tawnya worked with us on every detail: from guest count and tailored preferences to vendor and dietary choices, they made sure nothing was overlooked. The open grounds and green landscape created exactly the mood we wanted, and their team went above and beyond to bring our vision to life. What stood out most was how supported we felt throughout the planning process, which let us focus on the other elements that made our day special. Myra was a stellar coordinator, and her outdoor food-and-beverage team was thoughtful and responsive at every turn. If you're looking for a destination-worthy venue with staff who genuinely care about your celebration, we highly recommend Rec 18.

Best Day Ever!
We recently had our wedding at Recreation Park 18 (Big Rec), and it was truly an amazing experience from start to finish. From the very first time we toured the venue, I loved it immediately. The layout is perfect — having the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all in one location made the entire day feel seamless and easy for both us and our guests. Our dogs were able to be a part of the ceremony and that was SO FUN! We also had access to the ceremony space throughout the night, which allowed us to set up lawn games and gave everyone extra space to relax and enjoy themselves. The bridal suite was cute, clean, spacious, and the perfect place to get ready. We opted to have champagne and snack trays in the room, and it was set up beautifully when we arrived. Honestly, it was the little details throughout the entire process that made such a difference. The food was absolutely incredible. Almost every guest we’ve spoken to since the wedding has mentioned how delicious everything was. The staff was equally amazing. Myra and the entire event team were so kind, attentive, and organized. They moved with such a sense of purpose all day, and I always felt like we were in good hands. One thing I especially appreciated was that they made sure my dinner was brought to me right when I actually had a chance to sit down and eat, so it was still hot, and they made sure my water glass stayed full all night long. Small things like that really showed how much they cared and paid attention. We also didn’t hire a wedding coordinator, but between our DJ, Sadie, and Myra, everything flowed so smoothly and completely according to plan. I never felt stressed or confused about what was happening next. I also want to mention how impressed I was with the transition between event directors. We had originally been planning with Tawnya for most of the process, and about a month before the wedding we learned she would be leaving and Sadie would be taking over. From our perspective, the transition could not have gone more smoothly. There was absolutely no lapse in communication or service. Sadie knew every detail and picked up right where Tawnya left off, which made us feel so supported during such an important time. Big Rec gave us such an amazing wedding day and memories we will cherish forever. Everything looked beautiful, the staff was exceptional, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. I would absolutely recommend this venue to anyone looking for a wedding space with an incredible team behind it.

The absolute best!
This review is long overdue. We planned our wedding in just two months, and Recreation Park Golf Course 18 made it possible. Tawnya and her team responded to every question quickly and kept us informed every step of the way. Tawnya is the reason why we ended up having a full blown wedding rather than just a dinner. The venue itself is gorgeous with plenty of room for our guests, especially those with kids. the pricing was beyond reasonable, the ceremony space is what sold us, and the food was delicious. Guests are still raving about it! The staff worked hard to make sure everything ran smoothly and our day felt special. We're grateful to Tawnya and everyone at Recreation Park Golf Course 18 for helping us pull off the wedding in such a short time

A dream come true
Working with Tawnya (and Spencer) at Recreation 18 was such a wonderful experience. After viewing the venue for the first time and meeting with Tawnya, we knew this was the venue we wanted to use to celebrate our special day. The venue is incredible and so beautiful and had every amenity we needed and wanted. Tawnya was so easy to work with, incredibly communicative, very accommodating and helpful, had great ideas and assisted with additional decor as well. The wedding day went perfectly and was everything we wanted it to be. We cannot express our gratitude enough to Tawnya for all of her help throughout the entire process.
