About The Larson Lens

The Larson Lens, LLC

Owner & Operator

My name is Charlie and I have been working weddings in the Detroit area since 2014. I have a variety of experience-- everything from a proposal movie trailer staged at a theater to emergency photography when a wedding experienced a hiccup and photography was needed on short notice. I'm always here to make sure your event runs smoothly, and you have beautiful works to remember it by. Currently, I am focusing more on micro weddings and engagements.

The Larson Lens is a LGBTQ+ and disabled-owned business. I will make every effort to respect you, whether it be personal pronouns, culture, accessibility, or some other request. Just let me know and I will do my best to adapt to your needs.

    Amazing Memories

The Larson Lens were the perfect wedding videographers for our special day. As a longtime friend, their communication, as always, was professional, generous and prompt. They made our wedding video and took backup photos, providing an amazing service we otherwise would not have even considered. The quality of their work was high-quality, high-value and truly impressive - I am absolutely blown away by the wedding video they made that I watch every year. They even came through for us when our original photographer had difficulties, ensuring we had beautiful memories captured of our wedding. We highly recommend The Larson Lens to any couple looking for talented, reliable and thoughtful wedding vendors.

    Amazing wedding photos!

Charlie's photography is beautiful! They were very easy to work with and super professional. They took hundreds of photos, and had them edited and back to me in just a few weeks. High quality, and a good mix of posed and candid shots. Thank you! :)

As I move more toward courthouse, micro-wedding, and elopements, the timeframe for booking grows shorter than my old average. Please reach out directly with any short-notice requests, sending a text alert to 248.761.4702 so I know to check it as soon as possible. (Insider tip: the more information you provide when you reach out, the quicker and more accurate quote I can reply with!)
Definitely. Final images will be edited for color, saturation, exposure, etc. I also offer retouching services like blemish removal and teeth whitening for an additional charge.
Yes, we even offer a 10% discount if you bundle our services!
Turnaround time varies by season. Sometimes you’ll receive your photos within a week or two, sometimes it will be several weeks. Videos tend to have a longer turnaround than photos. I often send a handful of photos as a sneak peek within a few days and deliver the final edited images digitally so you can download, print, and share with your family and friends. Physical deliverables may be subject to shipping and production time. If you expect same-day turnaround, my services may not be for you.
You can expect around 500 photos, though it varies depending on your wedding package, number of guests, venue type, and other factors.
I usually recommend wedding insurance in general– it may seem like an unnecessary expense, but it's not a day you want at risk, either. Once, someone knocked over my tripod and half my gear was broken - make sure to present scenarios when purchasing insurance and select what is the best fit for you. Get it in writing, too, if there's a specific concern– if it's up to who said what, you want to be covered! As for me, let me know if your venue requires a certificate of liability, and I’ll send that over to them.
You want to make sure any vendor you hire has a plan for when life happens. Sometimes, circumstances out of our control– such as medical restrictions or government regulations– get in the way and cause unexpected obstacles. Having a backup photographer identified, sometimes with a retainer fee to block their calendar for a 'just in case' situation, can mean the difference between a dream day and a nightmare scenario. Talk with your vendors and let them help so you can be as stress-free as possible.
If someone falls ill or restrictions are advised, we are absolutely flexible and accommodating for everyone's safety. I'm personally fairly covid-cautious with my disability, am selective with my outings, and test after every event. Please feel comfortable discussing this with me. We strive for honest and open communication with our clients as things develop.
Yes! We are actually LGBTQ+ owned! We treat you with the same respect and compassion we hope to receive in return. We also deserve safe working environments, so relevant standards are built into every contract.
I'm neurodivergent and disabled myself, and I would love to discuss what this means and how I can be accommodating to you, too. I'm an ambulatory mobility aid user, for example, and with dynamic disabilities, some things are less predictable. This has strengthened my adaptability and made me stronger as a business owner, too!
