From our first conversation with Scarlet Oak Studio, we knew we'd made the right choice. The team asked thoughtful questions we hadn't even considered, and their calm approach put us at ease right away—which was huge since neither of us love being the center of attention. We ended up having four distinct sessions across two states, night before the wedding, wedding ceremony, luncheon/ring ceremony and then a reception a week later. They handled the logistics and details seamlessly. On our wedding day, the photographers and videographer worked together seamlessly, capturing moments we didn't even know were happening. The final photos and video are absolutely stunning, with each image feeling like it tells our story in the most beautiful way. Their friendly communication throughout the entire process made planning stress-free, and the final product was worth every penny. We can't recommend Scarlet Oak Studio enough.

Absolutely incredible experience
Tanner and his team were a JOY to work with! Originally, we weren’t going to have a videographer, but after learning that my grandparents weren’t going to be able to make it, my parents and I decided that we’d like to try to find a videographer (2 weeks before the wedding) so that we would have video to share with them. Not only did Scarlet Oak Studio immediately say they’d be able to do it, but they also offered a livestream of the ceremony (which unfortunately didn’t work the day of. It was in the mountains, so you know, it was a known risk with the WIFI). Now, I am SO glad we have video. I didn't know what I would have been missing. My (now) husband and I don’t love being in front of the camera, and Tanner and his team made it feel so much easier than I expected it would be. Before the wedding, they asked if we’d prefer them to be super involved or more fly on the wall. We said fly on the wall, and boy they delivered! Looking back, I can’t remember seeing them after the dinner/speeches. Granted, I was dancing! But they were DEFINITELY there based on the video we’ve seen so far hahaha. We had so much fun. Tanner and his team laughed with us, they cried with us, they made sure we had water and checked in with us throughout the day. And they hyped us the heck up!!! The sneak peak video that they delivered a week later might be the best thing I’ve ever seen in my life. It’s SO GOOD. It was truly the best day of my life, and I’ve probably watched the sneak peak a hundred times. It’s so fun to send to friends and family and my grandparents loved it. If you want a video for your wedding day, I cannot recommend Scarlet Oak Studio enough! They were absolutely wonderful. The only thing I am kind of sad about is that I didn’t get to say thank you in person or goodbye! So, thank you and goodbye now, lol!

Solid service, needs to be a better communicator
My wife and I recently got married in Mapleton and chose Scarlet Oak as our wedding photographer. They covered both our ceremony and reception. One service I really liked was their video coverage of the ceremony, speeches, and dances. We decided to forgo a videographer, and part of the Scarlet Oak package we chose included a stationary recording of the most intimate parts of the wedding. This alone was worth the price of their service. The photos we received were great, and we enjoyed them very much. I also must applaud their professionalism when dealing with our guests. Gathering our friends and family for photos was like herding cats, but they kept a smile on their faces the entire time and treated everyone with respect. Our only real problem was that we felt we were taken away from the reception for far too long. During our pre-wedding call with Bonnie, we went over which guests we wanted portraits with. We assumed these could all be taken during cocktail hour (we chose not to do a first look, so no photos besides the bride and bridesmaids were taken before the ceremony). In hindsight, perhaps that was unrealistic, but I wish Bonnie would have advised us otherwise. She also asked us during the call when we wanted to do our golden hour portraits of just the two of us. This was a strange question for me because, at any wedding where I had been a groomsman, the bride and groom did not do this. However, my wife liked the idea, and Bonnie assured me it would only take 10–15 minutes. This was not the case at all. After all the dances and speeches, we were ready to enjoy the night with our guests, but the photographers told us this was the time to go take our portraits. It took almost an hour to get them done, and although they came out great, we were extremely dismayed to lose that time with our guests. We could literally hear songs we had specifically requested from the DJ playing on the dance floor, and we didn’t even get to enjoy them. It really took the wind out of our sails, and I wish we could have had that time back. By the time we returned, they wanted us to cut the cake, and we did that as quickly as we could. After those photos were finished, my wife and I looked at each other and headed straight to the dance floor to make up for lost time. If I could go back, I would have handled the photos very differently. As previously mentioned, some of our friends and family did not make it easy for the crew to knock out photos quickly during cocktail hour, but I would have gathered our parents, siblings, and wedding party, gone to a secluded area away from the rest of the crowd, and knocked out all of the group portraits and our formals during cocktail hour. All other photos could have been taken casually at the reception. Would I recommend Scarlet Oak? Yes. They had great customer service, worked very hard at the event, and provided a great product. But be very clear with your expectations and what you want. We felt we clearly communicated our desire to enjoy our reception during the pre-wedding call, but it did not happen that way. Be a good communicator, make sure they are a good communicator, and this crew will be solid for your wedding.

Elli and her team are the BEST!
Working with Elli and the Scarlet Oak Studio team was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding day. From the first conversation, their communication was clear and fun, and they came prepared with a solid plan while staying open to what we needed. On the day of, their personalities put us completely at ease, they had a genuine way of making us feel comfortable in front of the camera while somehow staying in the background and capturing everything perfectly. What really impressed us was how detail-oriented they were, moving out of place hairs, tweaking jewelry, and shooting across multiple locations to ensure every single shot was flawless. Elli and her team were on top of everything, flexible when we needed them to be, and covered so much ground to get the best shots that we honestly couldn't keep track. We loved working with them and they matched the vibes of the wedding perfectly! She also got us sneak peeks of our day SO FAST, just 3 days after our wedding! That was a huge perk!

White-glove treatment with GORGEOUS photos
Due to some red tape, my now-husband and I were unable to formally schedule our ceremony venue—and therefore, any vendors—until less than four weeks before our wedding. The moment we were able to, I frantically started calling vendors. I’d been poring over Scarlet Oak Studio’s website and package options since the beginning of the engagement, as I really appreciated their transparent pricing and obvious expertise on the unique needs of photographing a wedding, including their cool options for additional lighting. I nervously called them, hoping beyond hope they could make it happen, and they did! We experienced white-glove treatment from the very beginning, when I spoke with the creative director, Tanner, and we discussed the unique needs and concerns for the wedding. I could tell we were in excellent hands with the company. Scarlet Oak Studio somehow managed to condense the timeframe of their typical onboarding without making me feel rushed, and they immediately set me up with our wedding photographer, Elli, who did a deep dive on all our hopes for and concerns about the photography. Words can’t describe how incredible Elli was to work with, as were her apprentice Sydney and assistant Abby. The office manager, Radhia, was also fantastic during email exchanges. I cannot overstate the positivity and capability with which Elli coordinated everything related to photography on the day of the wedding. It was clear that she genuinely loved her work and genuinely wanted to make our day perfect. Any stress or anxiety I’d been having with other aspects of the day just melted away when I was around her—working with Elli was a true joy. And in what I considered the most photo-critical part of the day, the group shots, I didn’t feel stressed about how they were going because Elli was able to direct people in such a cheerful and confident way that everyone loved her. We received the photos sooner than expected. After looking over the photos, I had a couple of concerns, and when I talked to Elli about them, I felt truly listened to—and so very relieved. She 100% understood what I was talking about and didn’t try to make light of my concerns, just addressed each of them and once again made it a fantastic experience. We paid for extra editing time because we were asking for some stuff that was way outside the scope of our plan (I felt the price of the extra editing time was quite reasonable!), and the final photos are SO perfect! If my husband and I ever have any kind of event photography that we need in the future, we will absolutely ask Scarlet Oak Studio to do it, since they also do event photography on top of their rock-solid wedding photography. From start to finish, our photography experience was seamless and truly outstanding. My only regret is that we didn’t also hire Scarlet Oak Studio to do videography for us as well, because we altogether skipped that component of the day. I one million percent recommend Scarlet Oak Studio to anyone reading this—no matter what your unique (or typical) plans or concerns might be, just talk to them, and they can definitely help you out.
