Poppy & Hive Photography

We're lovers of love. We capture every moment, even the in-betweens.

Poppy & Hive is the husband-and-wife team of Chris & Erinn Austin. Our roots are in California, and we now call Utah home. We've been capturing love all over the world since 2014, published in numerous wedding blogs and on the covers of wedding magazines. We are a family of five here in Utah, spending out time outdoors, exploring the national parks, hiking, and all the nature that Utah has to offer!

As a husband and wife team, we just get each other, which means you don't have to worry about your photographers not getting along or not gelling together. We are ultimate competitors, trying to outdo each other every time we shoot, giving you better and more interesting photos. And because of our experience, we've seen it all, allowing us to help make sure your entire wedding day goes off without a hitch! Heck, my wife can even pluck groom's eyebrows (it's happened before!).

    Pictures of a Lifetime and wonderful photographers

    Poppy & Hive Photography was the perfect choice for our wedding photography. From our first interaction, their communication was awesome, excellent, and kind. The quality of their work is top tier - they captured memories on camera that will last a lifetime. The photos are absolutely gorgeous. On the day of our wedding, they made me feel calm and ensured I was completely satisfied. They ended up staying the whole time, which was very special. Poppy & Hive is a husband and wife duo who work so well together, and their passion for their craft really shines through in their work.

    Best Photographers EVER

    Chris and Erinn deliver A quality. They are very prompt, fast, and detailed in their communication. The quality of their work is top notch. Chris had my husband and I lay on a diving board (at our reception) for a photo and that photo will go down in history as one of the best ever taken. They have such an eye for art and vision. They are the kindest souls, masters of their craft, and most reliable vendor I’ve ever worked for. I cannot recommend them enough and will be asking them to take my family photos (as our fam grows) for years to come.

    Amazingly Talented

    You cannot go wrong with Poppy & Hive Photography. Not only are they amazingly talented and their work is beautiful, but they are the sweetest, most fun loving couple to work with. Chris and Erinn have been with us from engagement photos and wedding photos, to maternity and family sessions and I have loved every single one of them. They make everything easy and make you feel super comfortable the whole time.

    Your wedding day is the most important day of your life and these photos are something you will cherish forever. They did a beautiful job and took amazing photos, and lots of them.     Beautiful Pics

    Chris is great with communicating with my wife and i for poses for the pics. He is also receptive to my wife's suggestions on poses she would like. Chris is also great work with our 2 year old daughter, focusing on making her laugh and taking her pictures at the right moments. Backgrounds for our photoshoot are beautiful. Always a fun time and would work with photographers again.

Booking a wedding with White Haute Photography is easy! Pick your package (or we’ll create a unique package to fit your needs), ensure we’re available for your wedding date, sign your contract electronically and pay the retainer, which secures your date.
We can book weddings a week in advance, or two years in advance, it doesn’t matter. As long as we have availability, we can be your wedding photographer. As we normally book weddings about 12 months in advance, the sooner you contact us about your wedding, the more likely we’ll have your date available.
We are lovers of natural light, so you won’t find us lugging around bulky lighting kits. Whenever possible, you’ll find us taking advantage of the golden hour, where the light is soft. Our posing style is to do as little as possible. We don’t want you feeling, and looking, stiff and uncomfortable. But we want to evoke real emotion, real intimacy, real laughter, real smiles. We may ask you to whisper something dirty in your significant other’s ear, or do the biggest fake belly laugh you can muster, as these are always followed immediately by real laughs. We want you to feel at ease in front of the camera.
Yes, we exclusively shoot in the RAW format, as it gives us the greatest image quality with which to edit your final images. After we cull through these RAW images, we will provide you with a folder of high-resolution JPG files. Unfortunately we do not provide clients with the RAW files, as they are not edited to our stringent specifications. Along with your private online gallery access, you will receive a copyright release, giving you full rights to make reprints and enlargements of any files.
We are available to travel anywhere in the world to be your wedding photographer, and we would be honored to capture such a special day. Travel fees and requirements depend on the destination, and the type of wedding. While domestic destination weddings may only require a car drive, other locations abroad will require round trip air travel. While we have photographed weddings in some exotic locations, we certainly have a “bucket list” of worldwide locations, and we’re happy to discuss a discounted rate for your wedding in one of these places!
While winter is definitely a slower time for weddings here in Utah, we don’t offer any specific time-of-year discounts. We do offer discounts for our honored military service men and women, so please be sure to let us know if you are active duty or retired. We are also able to customize any of our wedding photography packages to fit your budget and needs. We may, however, offer a discounted rate during an off-peak time based on availability.
Yes, we’ll travel anywhere for any session. We’ve met a wedding couple in Seattle for their engagement session, driven to Las Vegas and back in the same day, whatever it takes to get the best images! We encourage our wedding clients to find a really cool location for their engagement photos or bridal session, because unlike the wedding day, you’re not constrained by time or location.
Of course, we’re here to make it as easy and uncomplicated as possible. We have curated Pinterest boards to help you with outfit ideas, and we love to collaborate on finding the perfect location for your photo session. We’ll get to know your hobbies, your passions, and match those to the right backdrop. We also encourage you to bring more outfits and accessories than you’ll have time for, as it will give us the opportunity to help you pick the right combinations on-site.
