About Amberlight Collective

Danette Chappell

Photographer Extraordinaire

I'm Danette, and I'm a huge nerd. I've been doing photography professionally since 2008. I started my business in New Mexico, did a photography internship in Chicago, then moved myself to Las Vegas where I've run a successful full-time photography business for 9 years before expanding to the Reno and Lake Tahoe areas. As a bonafide nerd, I enjoy video games, watching hockey, drinking whiskey, petting cats, and woodworking. I build a mean wooden box. I also have a weird obsession with Gilmore Girls. My work has been published in many various wedding publications and blogs and I often write guest blogs for photography and wedding websites.

I love to connect, explore, and create adventures with my couples. It's more than just a job for me, and I'm really passionate about creating great experiences for my clients! One of the most fulfilling parts of my job is when a couple reaches out to me AFTER their wedding day to hang out, grab coffee, or even a good whiskey. I really love, as an introvert, that being a photographer allows me to meet the best people, and to experience life with them on such a monumental day in their lives. Photos aren't good unless you can look at them and remember the amazing experience you had on your wedding day. That's my aim for every couple.

I refer Bride's and they LOVVVVE it!

Amberlight Collective has been an absolute pleasure to collaborate with for many of our client's wedding days over the years. Their communication style is casual/comfy and direct, with a refreshing sense of humor that puts everyone at ease throughout the process. The quality of their work is exceptional - modern, open-minded, and professional. They always know the best locations for fun photos and are open to accommodating alternative lifestyles. I have referred several brides and they have all raved about the amazing experience and beautiful results.

    10/10 would recommend!

Can't recommend Danette and The Amberlight Collective enough! She is a professional who makes you feel at ease in front of the camera (I am camera shy) and captures the best part of you. There were so many great shots of us that I absolutely love and can't thank her enough for capturing our special day. We had the usual wedding snags (people not being where they were told) but Danette rolled with it and made the best use of time.

My booking policy is 1 month before your scheduled event date up to within 1 year of the date of inquiry, depending on availability.
Some packages offer additional photographers. You can always add an additional photographer on to your package a la carte.
Definitely. All final images will be edited for color, saturation, exposure, and sharpness to ensure they look beautiful. I also offer retouching services like blemish removal and teeth whitening for an additional charge.
No, I prefer focusing on photography only, so you can get the best wedding pictures possible.
My turnaround time varies by season. Typically, you’ll be able to view your photos online about 1-3 weeks after your wedding or elopement date.
You can expect about 80 to 100 images per hour of photographing. But keep in mind this estimate varies depending on your wedding package, number of guests, venue type, and other factors like travel time between locations.
I do! Just let me know if your venue requires a certificate of liability, and I’ll send that over to them.
In my 12 years of experience as a wedding photographer, I’ve never cancelled a booking. In the very rare event that I’m unable to photograph your wedding, I’ll make sure you’re covered by one of my colleagues or my contracted assistant. I’ll also provide you with a list of photographers from the many networking groups I’m in, so you can find the perfect replacement.
I photographed my first wedding in 2008 in Mississippi. My photography has changed quite a bit since then!
When I refer to a wedding, I’m talking about the traditional, all-day wedding event with ceremony and reception and guests…lots of guests! When I refer to an elopement, I’m speaking of a shorter (usually 1 or 2 hour) wedding day when the bride and groom sneak to Vegas to get married in an intimate ceremony.
You’re certainly more than welcome to send over a list of specific shots you’d like me to take. I do, however, recommend that the list be small. Sticking to a shot list can actually hinder the creativity of the day and cause me to miss moments that are unique and genuine to you as a couple, and your wedding day.
I love submitting weddings to magazines and blogs! There is a chance I will submit yours to be published. If this happens, you’ll most likely receive an email from the editor or writer in charge of the specific publication your photos will be appearing in to let you know about the publication and to gain a bit more info from you.
Guests are always welcome to take photographs while I’m photographing you or your event so long as they do not hinder our photo session together. I do, however, ask that no other professional photographers be present while I am photographing your event, including other hired vendors sans my secondary photographers or assitants.
I do not provide access to RAW or unedited image files to clients. The reason for this is because the digital photography process is two-fold taking place both in camera, and afterward during the post-processing period. As an artist, I do not consider the image complete until it has gone through post-processing and therefore will not hand over an incomplete image to clients.
I can certainly stay longer if needed. There is an hourly A La Carte photography coverage fee of $400/per additional hour of coverage needed.
Nevada requires that a business have a specific transportation permit in order to legally, and safely, transport clients. Because my photography business does not deal with transportation specifically, my insurance will not allow me to transport any clients. Because of this, all clients must make their own transportation plans for photo sessions separately.
