Alyssa Sorenson

I find joy in finding and creating beauty all around me. I hold the belief that we are all doing the best we can at any given moment, and that our authentic selves are better than any glamorized version. I am based in Salt Lake City, Utah but my work has me documenting stories around the country. I shot my first wedding in 2009, launched my business in 2015, and graduated with my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2016.

I believe that weddings are about real moments and real people. I approach a wedding day in a photojournalistic style, letting moments unfold and letting people be themselves. I don't believe that beauty and reality are mutually exclusive-- to me, they go hand in hand. Real enough to make you feel something, beautiful enough to hang on your wall. I don't believe that weddings need to be exceptional, extravagant, or perfect in order to make great photographs. In fact, some of my favorite work has come from the simplest of weddings.

Our photographer was truly incredible! She shot both our engagements and our wedding, and the photos were everything we hoped for and more. Her creative and stylish approach captured not just the moments, but the emotions, the happiness, the excitement, and the love. Everything we felt that day is reflected so beautifully in her work. She was so professional and made the whole experience easy and enjoyable. We never felt like we had to worry about photos or step away from the moment.
