About Tim Greathouse, Ohio Wedding Officiant

Tim Greathouse, Ohio Wedding Officiant

What’s the right wedding ceremony for a religiously independent couple? A courthouse ceremony is cold, impersonal, and over in a flash. A church ceremony is usually just a long sermon to which your actual ceremony is a sideshow. Pick your poison - a quick, dry affair with no heart, or a long, tedious slog that flies in the face of your worldview. Or... chuck that poison and grab the champagne. I got you, boo! I perform deeply personal, customizable ceremonies for couples who care about the content of their ceremony and want the declaration of their love and commitment to be truly unforgettable. 800+ ceremonies, 500+ rehearsals, 17 years!

Your ceremony will focus on thoughtful, bold insights on love and commitment, and personal stories and details about your relationship - NOT religion. You'll answer a detailed survey that puts you in control of every aspect of your ceremony, and you'll answer insightful personal questions so that I can share some highlights of your romance with your family and friends. With 17 years in the business and over 850 ceremonies officiated, I bring the enthusiasm and eloquence to deliver a deeply moving yet lighthearted ceremony, a relaxed demeanor that will keep you calm and centered, and unparalleled expertise in wedding ceremony craft and theory.

In three words: Calm, Creative, Fun

    Best officiant ever

Our search for an officiant led us to Tim's website where his ceremony theory really spoke to us. Booking was easy through his site and the questionnaire he had us fill out was definitely worth the time. He wrote us a ceremony that felt completely personal, honoring us as individuals while still showing who we are as a couple. Multiple guests told us it felt like he'd known us for years. On the day itself, he was calm, warm, and had such a welcoming presence that really put us at ease. We got married outdoors at the historic Everett Covered Bridge in Peninsula. Tim made the whole experience feel effortless and deeply meaningful. It really was everything we hoped for. If you're looking for an officiant who will take the time to get to know you and create something unique, it's Tim.

    Tim Greathouse

Tim was absolutely amazing! We had a private ceremony with about 15 people. Tim was there early and ready to go. The service he gave was perfect. It was like he's known us both all along with how personal he made it for both of us and made us laugh more than once

Tim Greathouse is an authentic, sentimental expert at conveying the essence of unconditional love, respect and true wedded bliss to any amount of people gathered together in celebration of your big day. Tim has a magical presence that brings both peace and a delightful sense of story book romance. He is a gifted speaker and and the type of person you feel you’ve known for years. It was an honor to have him as our officiant and to be his 900th (!!!) ceremony. Thank you Tim for making our day thee most special and memorable day of our relationship!

The most down to Earth person!

Tim is the best! He has such an easy going and calming personality which is important for days like this! He was available for us to get married on a Tuesday morning. It was just him, my husband and I for our special day. Personally we wanted something short, non religious and free from having to write any of our own things which is exactly what we got! We've never done this before so we weren't even sure the steps (as far as marriage license, etc.) and he walked us through exactly what we needed to do and the time line for it which helped a lot. He's hip, he's cool, and he's chill. Perfect for us!

    Wedding Day

Tim was excellent! Our ceremony would not have been so perfect without him. The ceremony was the perfect length and he made all of our wedding day jitters wash away. Our guests loved how he told our story it had just the right amount of personal touch. He was so attentive and constantly checked in on us leading us to the big day so we had nothing to worry about. I would absolutely recommend Tim for you wedding day.

I began officiating ceremonies part time in 2010. It was a runaway success, and by 2012 I was able to quit my day job and make officiating my full-time career.
As of December 2025, I have performed 842 ceremonies. I perform over 100 ceremonies a year.
No - let *me* personalize your ceremony! You'll fill out a detailed questionnaire where you'll choose readings, vows, ceremony extras, remembrances, and more. You'll also answer dozens of questions about what makes your time together, and each ceremony features an in-depth examination of your answers. Why are you two in love? This is the question I attempt to answer.
Not only will I help you plan and run your rehearsal, I'll even make it pretty darn enjoyable! It's not the usual hour-long goat rodeo you're used to. Instead, it will be a tight 30 minute rehearsal, with simplicity and anxiety management being the top priorities. (Rehearsals are a separate fee.)
Not a problem! I can keep that fact under my hat during the ceremony (if it's a secret) or make a playful reference to it during your ceremony (if it's common knowledge.)
After planning, writing and performing over 800 ceremonies (and coordinating and running almost 500 rehearsals) for almost two decades, you can assume that my writing, planning, public speaking and leadership skills are second to none - and my fees reflect this. Furthermore, a lot of officiants charge more than me and do astonishingly little to justify it. Over 100 couples a year are happy to pay my fee, and I turn away dozens more couples each year. This makes me certain that my fees are both fair and competitive.
Hell yes I do! Neither one's gender identity nor their sexual orientation make their love any less lovely or worthy of celebration. Read all about my views on LGBTQ+ ceremonies: https://timgreathouse.com/lgbtq
No. The ceremony will have far less emotional impact if you already know what's going to be said. I ask that couples trust that I’ll compose the perfect ceremony for them - because of this, I don’t allow them to read it ahead of time.
Most ceremonies I perform (excluding processional and recessional) are 15-20 minutes. To some this sounds brief, but the truth is: no one came to hear me talk. They came to celebrate, break bread, tie one on, and dance like a Muppet. I choose my words for the greatest emotional impact in the shortest time, moving us with purpose through the formalities and to the celebration. In other words: I skip the boring bits!
Which do you mean? An African or European swallow?
Contrary to popular belief, my house is merely adequate.
