I'm Schwa Potter, and Acting Officiant is my Milwaukee wedding officiant business. I write and lead every ceremony myself, from courthouse alternatives to big weddings with every guest watching. Couples choose between two options. The Quickie Ceremony ($300) is a 5 to 7 minute legal ceremony, ideal for elopements and small gatherings. The Signature Ceremony ($950) is 15 to 25 minutes, fully custom and written from your questionnaire and a conversation about your story. I serve Milwaukee and all of Southeast Wisconsin, plus Northern Illinois, and travel nationwide for destination weddings. Rehearsals are available for $150. When the vows are done, I make sure your license is signed and filed correctly.

I spent 30+ years as a professional performer, including Broadway's Mary Poppins, before I started officiating. That training shows up in every ceremony. I know how to hold a room, set the pace, and give your guests moments they remember. Since 2015 I've officiated 300+ weddings across Wisconsin and Northern Illinois, with 68 five-star Google reviews. Every Signature ceremony starts with a questionnaire and a conversation, then I write a script that could never work for anybody but the two of you. Secular, interfaith, LGBTQ+, a 5-minute elopement or a full ceremony: every couple is welcome. I guide you through the marriage license, too.

    Schwa was absolutely phenomenal to work with. As someone who knows nothing about planning a ceremony he helped walk us every step of the way. He created a beautiful ceremony for us that we got SO many compliments about. We opted to also pay for a rehearsal the night before. He helped run that flawlessly and we signed the marriage license during then so we didn't have to worry about bringing the documents to the actual ceremony.

The Quickie Ceremony is $300 for a 5-7 minute nonreligious ceremony. The Signature Ceremony is $950 for a fully personalized 15-25 minute ceremony with your love story woven throughout. Both prices include tax. Rehearsal attendance is available for an additional $150. Travel fees of $1/mile apply for venues over 30 miles from Milwaukee.

Yes. Schwa has performed ceremonies with as little as 24 hours notice, contingent on when you can acquire a marriage license from the county clerk. If you already have your marriage license, he can marry you today.
