I’m Tracie Heidt, a boutique wedding florist based in Cashiers, NC — and I design from your story, not a template. Every RetroWhims design begins with listening. Before I ever choose a flower, I start with your vision, your color palette, and the feeling you want your day to hold. What emerges is something whimsical, personal, and rooted in the mountains of Western North Carolina.

I intentionally take one full-service wedding per month so every couple receives my complete creative attention — from the first consultation to the last petal on your wedding day. Full-service wedding design starts at $2,500, with intimate elopements and small wedding collections starting at $180. I serve Cashiers, Highlands, Asheville, and throughout Western NC, with reach into North Georgia and Greenville, SC. A little vintage. A lot of love. Completely one-of-a-kind.

    Best Wedding Florist!

    Everything about working with RetroWhims Floristry was a joy. Tracie was understanding and kind throughout the whole process. She explained options to me and provided thoughtful advice based on her experience. I didn't expect to care about florals when I started planning my wedding but in the end my bridal bouquet was one of my favorite parts of the day. I still have it happily in my house looking just as good as it did at the wedding. I loved having a statement piece which perfectly matched our venue, the vibe of the wedding, and our colors (and of course also matched the bridesmaid bouquets and other florals).     My Wedding Dreams Come True!

    Tracie at Retrowhims did an amazing job with florals for my wedding. She worked closely with me to learn exactly what I was looking for, and then executed it perfectly! She truly excels at listening to what you are looking for and then finding a way to bring that vision to life. From the bouquets, to the corsages, to the centerpieces, each piece was perfectly put together and stunning. I specifically requested using Sola Wood Flowers, and Tracie was able to paint and build them to look beautiful. Even better, I have been able to keep some of the arrangements and use them as decor in my home, which has been such a special way to incorporate our special day into our daily lives. Years later and they still look good as new! I am eternally thankful to Retrowhims for making my wedding day the most beautiful day of my life. We couldn't have done it without her! Thank you!

    Perfection Personified

    I loved working with RetroWhims. I had a really specific vibe that I was going for and she did a great job matching it. There were even a few flowers that were a must for me that weren’t attainable fresh, so she blended in faux absolutely seamlessly. We had a Friday the 13th outdoor wedding with Celtic vibes. Very dark fantasy romance. It’s definitely not the average theme, so I was really picky about who I worked with. She absolutely nailed it AND kept it within my budget.

Investment varies depending on flower selection, design complexity, and scope. Every package includes my full creative attention — never rushed, never generic.
Most couples reach out 6–12 months ahead of their date, especially for spring and fall weddings. Some dates fill quickly, so I recommend inquiring as soon as you feel that spark of this is it.
Our consultation is a conversation, not a questionnaire. I want to hear about your day — how you want it to feel, the details that matter most to you, and the story only your celebration could tell. Come as you are. If you have inspiration images, venue photos, fabric swatches, or even a Pinterest board you love (or love to hate), bring those along. But don’t worry if you’re still figuring it out — that’s exactly what this time is for. By the end, you’ll have a clearer sense of your floral direction, and I’ll have everything I need to begin crafting a design that’s entirely your own.
I prioritize seasonal blooms fresh from local farms whenever possible — and I’ll always be honest with you about what’s truly available for your date. Seasonal flowers mean richer textures, better quality, and designs that feel naturally connected to the time and place of your celebration. During our consultation, we’ll talk through what’s at its peak for your season, and I’ll weave those blooms into a palette that feels intentional rather than generic.
Rather than a physical mockup, I create a detailed design proposal for each couple — a curated flower library with your full bloom palette, a mood board that captures the feeling of your day, and descriptions of each arrangement so you can truly picture it before a single stem is cut. This gives you a clear, considered preview of your florals while allowing the natural beauty of fresh blooms to shine on the day itself. For full-service weddings, this proposal is included as part of our design process. If a mockup is needed, I can provide one for an additional fee. This is a good opportunity to take bridal photos.
Yes — beyond florals, I offer a curated rental collection through my Set the Scene styling service. From vessels and candlelight to vintage-inspired accents, these pieces are selected to complement your floral design and bring the full scene to life. Rentals can be added to any full-service wedding package — full details are listed on my website and within my package pricing.
Yes. Full-service design includes delivery, on-site installation, styling, and tear-down. I take care of the details so you can stay present and soak it all in. We also repurpose any florals that you cannot take with you to local charities, hospice, and rehabilitation centers.
Yes — your blooms don’t have to say goodbye when the celebration ends. I offer in-house flower preservation, including dried and pressed arrangements displayed in a shadow box, and resin keepsakes that capture the beauty of your florals in a lasting, tangible way. Ask about preservation during your consultation and we’ll find the option that feels most like you.
