The Byrd Family has been feeding central Indiana residents for nearly 70 years. It all started in 1952 with a family run custard shop called the Custard Kitchen. After additional family ventures, and years dreaming of his own place, Jonathan finally opened his own flagship location in Greenwood, Indiana. Since its inception in 1988, Jonathan Byrd’s has served millions of meals, while also delivering its experience to dozens of partner locations throughout the Indianapolis Metropolitan area through its extensive catering operation.

    Wedding Reception Dinner

    From our first conversation with Jonathan Byrd's Catering, we knew we were in good hands. The team communicated with us every step of the way—quick replies and crystal clear explanations made the whole process stress-free. On the big day, they showed up ready to work and took care of everything on their own without us having to ask for anything. The food was delicious and the service was lightning fast, with staff clearing tables and keeping everything running smoothly throughout the reception. Our guests couldn't stop talking about how good the meal was, and we loved that we could just relax and enjoy our day instead of worrying about logistics. We'd absolutely recommend Jonathan Byrd's Catering to any couple looking for a caterer that actually delivers.

To ensure we have the right amount of staff and ingredients available, we request (but do not require) two weeks notice for an event of 300 or less. For larger events, more notice is much appreciated!
Yes we can! Some of the most common requests we have are for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, and nut free. While we cannot always promise an entirely "allergen free" kitchen, we are happy to accommodate to the best of our abilities. Just let us know your exact needs and we will work hard to make it happen!
After meeting with one of our professional event coordinators and discussing your event needs, we will prepare an itemized estimate for you!
We ask for your final guest count twenty-one (21) days in advance. This gives us time to finalize your rental orders, finalize all event details, and prepare your invoice for payment.
Wedding receptions typically book 6-12 months in advance. Corporate events usually have a shorter lead time. We suggest reserving your date as soon as it is confirmed. Summer weekends and all dates in December fill very quickly.
If there are any remaining meals that were not sent out for consumption, we are a loyal partner to Second Helpings, who has the opportunity to retrieve any extra meals to minimize waste and help provide for Indiana's under served.
We can guarantee pricing on a proposal for up to 14 days after it is sent out. Past the 14 day mark, we cannot guarantee pricing or availability. If you have finalized your decision after these 14 days, please touch base with your event specialist to confirm if your quote has changed.
This charge includes menu creation, walkthroughs, purchasing/stocking of ingredients, and kitchen prep, as well as maintaining our main commissary kitchen in order to prepare the bulk of an event. Additionally, liability insurance and permits are also a factor. A service charge of 22% is applied to all events, which is consistent with the industry standard.
Yes, we do have a delivery charge. Delivery fees are dependent on many factors, including disposable versus china service, if bar service is included in your event, and the distance from our commissary kitchen.
No, gratuity is not included on the bill. If you think your service staff deserves gratuity, please let your event specialist know or be sure to included it on your invoice.
Absolutely! Keep in mind, however, that many venues (especially in regards to weddings) provide their own bar service, therefore you may not be able to utilize ours.
Yes! Please ask your event specialist for drop-off catering packages and pricing. We recommend this type of catering service for smaller events and company lunches.
