We met in elementary school, Derek was 2 years ahead of me at a small private school where everybody knew everybody. We knew of each other for 11 years before we finally became friends 2 years after he graduated. At the time, I was in the beginning stages of my photography career and he had just filmed his first wedding. He worked up the courage to ask me out, and from that day on we were inseparable, many of our first “dates” were spent exploring new places and taking photos and videos.
