Built in 1842, historic Simmstown Manor has a rich story. Originally constructed by Harvey McElroy for his daughter Mariah, the home later passed to John Simms after the Civil War. Unlike many, Simms preserved his wealth through the war and acquired the mansion and its surrounding land, eventually owning 2,400 acres. The Simms family added a two-story north wing and moved in by 1868, hosting grand gatherings for the region’s most prominent families. When John’s wife, Sarah Cecilia, died in 1895, he divided his land among their five children, giving Simmstown to his youngest, Mary, with whom he lived until his death. The property remained in the family until 1983, when it was sold to the current owner, Larry Hodge. Both the house and grounds later underwent extensive renovation, preserving as much historic character as possible.

The Tucker Homestead is a beautiful historic home with history and elegance dating back to 1910. The setting is on a large farm that is surrounded by rolling hills and knob land. From the house, to the beautiful log cabin located adjacent to the house, large mature trees, landscaped grounds, the spacious patio with a fireplace makes a perfect setting and backdrop for your special day. An additional house is provided for the bride and her bridesmaids to have their hair and makeup done. The bride then comes to the Homestead house to get into her dress for first looks and photos. The groomsmen have a beautiful Log cabin to get ready in and await the time. There are different packages to accommodate your wedding guest list. Tables & chairs come with your rental. We have a set for the ceremony and another set for the reception, so need to move any around. We have an open vendor policy and do not charge a facility fee.
