Mariachi Hidalgo was founded in 2017 and is led by our Musical Director Hernan Hidalgo Treviño who is a first-generation musician within his family. At the age of 21, Hernan is New York City’s, as well as the East Coast’s, 1st ever “Youngest Musical Director of a Mariachi Band”. Hernan graduated from the CUNY of Hunter College as a Music and History major to better prepare himself for both the musical and culture of mariachi. Within the first 2 years, Mariachi Hidalgo has performed in some of New York's exclusive places. Hernan's main goal is to inspire and motivate other youths to continue this musical tradition of mariachi.

After serving in the U.S. Navy, he reignited his passion for live performance in 1986 and has been delivering soul-soothing grooves ever since. Centered on electric bass, Maurice also uses technology to layer melodies with electric piano, saxophone, trombone, and more—crafting immersive soundscapes that blend jazz, emotion, and cinematic depth. For Maurice, music is therapy—both personal and powerfully shared.

Benjamin played at the Hampton University Graduation where President Obama was the guest speaker. He has played at several venues in the Hampton, Virginia area to include the Hampton Coliseum. Benjamin returned to the Washington, DC area to continue his musical career. Currently, Benjamin plays the cello at various venues around the Washington metropolitan area to include Chinatown, Georgetown, Eastern Market, and Dupont Circle. He is a cellist with the Sanctified Symphony Orchestra; and the Cellist in the musical, the Cortical Titanic.

Tiffany Rose is blessed to come from a gifted musical family. Her mother, Gail Shanta, is an accomplished harpist and has been playing in the DC area for over 30 years. Tiffany grew up playing for special occasions with Gail, and they add that special charm to an event, as a mother/daughter duo. In addition, Tiffany’s sister, Katie Shanta, is an accomplished violinist with a music degree from George Mason University. Tiffany and Katie have performed together for many weddings, as well as with their mother as a trio. The Shanta Family at its best!

Electric Violinist Alina began her musical endeavor at the very young age of 5, taking up both the violin and piano. For the next two decades, she studied under the tutelage of several world renowned Violinists and Conductors. She graduated with a Masters Degree from the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 2015. Throughout her college studies and up to the present day, she has performed at over 250 wedding ceremonies as well as countless Corporate Events and Private Parties.
