The NOCCA Foundation is the nonprofit that supports the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, which is Louisiana's arts conservatory for high school students. Our venues are located in one of New Orleans' oldest neighborhoods, the Faubourg Marigny, just upriver from the Bywater. Our buildings date from the early 1800s and have been beautifully restored with modern amenities. Funds from rentals help support a range of programs for students, faculty, and the community, including an Artists-in-Residence program that brings up to 100 visiting artists into NOCCA's classrooms each year; professional development funds for NOCCA faculty; and a series of concerts, gallery exhibitions, readings, and classes for the community.

Our Private Dining Room can seat up to 30 people comfortably and has a maximum capacity of 32 people. For your convenience, the room is equipped with a 52” flat-screen television, as well as Wi-Fi and teleconferencing capabilities. GW Fins can also accommodate up to 200 people for a sit-down dinner and as many as 275 for a cocktail reception in our Main Dining Room. Although we are normally not open for lunch, we are more than happy to accommodate groups of 40 or more for a private lunch. Laurenia is housed inside the Pythian Temple which has a history of remarkable local significance. Smith Wendell (S.W.) Green, then one of the most prominent African-American businessmen in New Orleans, commissioned the construction of the Pythian Temple in 1908. The Pythian immediately played an integral part in New Orleans early civil rights movement. It towered over the surrounding neighborhood and became a center of the African American community. Since its inception, The Pythian Temple hosted popular performing groups and African-American carnival balls. The venue led to the formation of the Zulu Parading Club and even housed a popular rooftop bar known as “Piron’s Garden of Joy.” It is said that a young Louis Armstrong first played at The Pythian Temple. Laurenia is named after Smith Wendell (S.W.) Green’s wife. She assisted him in running his business, was a member of the NAACP, and was active in the early struggle for civil rights.

When reserving your special day, we aim to make the process as easy as possible and accommodate your needs at every step in the process. In general, our space can accommodate up to 300 guests, and we have multiple spaces in order to make your day special and unique. We allow you to work with any vendors you choose as long as they are licensed and insured, however we are happy to share our favorites with you.

The gallery is accessible through a discreet entrance on the ground floor at 4523 Magazine Street. Upon entering the building, visitors proceed up the main staircase, which opens directly into the second-floor gallery. With each step up the cozy stairway, the impressive scale of the large, open gallery space above slowly comes into view.

We are located on the Northshore of New Orleans. We have a beautiful venue inside the Maritime Museum as well as the historic lighthouse keepers cottage and dock directly on the Tchefuncte River! We have multiple spaces to fit any needs and any size party! We are nestled in historic downtown Madisonville Louisiana.
