Barn on Bridge provided an exceptional experience for our wedding day! Amanda Frangoulis, our event manager, went above and beyond to ensure every detail aligned with our vision, including arranging a private tasting when my husband couldn’t attend the quarterly one. I provided a detailed menu that reflected my vision for a fall rustic wedding, and the culinary team executed it with incredible precision. For hors d’oeuvres, we selected salmon deviled eggs, southwest crab cake bites, lobster mac & cheese bites, Caprese skewers, and Mediterranean lamb burger sliders with tzatziki sauce. Our first course was an unforgettable butternut squash sweet potato soup with pumpkin seeds poured tableside over butternut squash cubes—a show-stopping experience! For entrees, we had spicy honey-glazed panko-crusted salmon, apple cider-glazed chicken, and butternut squash ravioli with brown sage butter sauce and toasted pine nuts, paired with kale & apple salad, garlic Parmesan green beans, and sweet potato mash (If you ever use these dishes, you’re going to have to credit Barn on Bridge and me!). Guests raved about the delicious and perfectly executed dishes, and I was thrilled to hear the culinary team plans to adopt some of my suggestions into future menus! Thalia, our day-of coordinator, ensured everything ran seamlessly and went the extra mile by preparing leftovers for us—a thoughtful touch that allowed us to savor the incredible food later. I also want to emphasize that successful weddings are a partnership. Often, dissatisfaction stems from a lack of clear communication, but this team is exceptional at walking you through every step. They genuinely care about your vision and execute it with precision. I felt supported, valued, and cared for throughout the process. If you communicate your ideas, Barn on Bridge will deliver above and beyond. I wholeheartedly recommend them for an unforgettable wedding experience!

Venue considerations

My fiancé and I were looking for a rustic wedding venue, not a ballroom, preferably a venue with space to be outside (weather permitting). We visited a few options in the Philly area and fell in love with the John James Audubon Center! The space offers SO many options for an outdoor or indoor ceremony. They host receptions in the pavilion which is open with huge windows and firepits outside! The site is beautiful, and everyone we’ve worked with has been immensely helpful! After officially booking for our October 2024 wedding, we planned to visit with our parents. What was originally intended to be a quick stroll around the grounds turned into an impromptu tour with the venue manage. She answered all of our parents' questions and even brought out photo books of previous weddings for us to flip through together. With the wedding right around the corner now, we could not be more thrilled with our decision and can't wait to be there next month to celebrate our big day!

The day of our wedding as we drove up to the venue I started to cry bc it was so much more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. Choosing Appleford for our wedding was hands down one of the best choices we made in wedding planning. From the first tour Lisa made the experience as easy and stress free as possible. Their recommended vendors and partnered caters were great, and the open houses they held made selection smooth and gave us peace of mind knowing we were making informed decisions. One reason we loved Appleford was knowing they had a good rain plan - unfortunately, we did have to use this rain plan for some of our day so we were so incredibly grateful that the inside of the estate was stunning and ready for indoor use when the time came. The onsite coordinator was helpful in every respect and helped with everything including wardrobe malfunctions for the mother of the bride (helping to sew her dress when it was needed)! Our guests raved about how beautiful the venue was which was obvious from the moment you step on the property. We cannot recommend Appleford enough and are so incredibly grateful that we chose them for our wedding day!

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Curtis Hall is surrounded by a 45-acre arboretum created by Frederick Law Olmsted, landscape architect for New York City’s Central Park. Beyond the handsome wrought-iron entrance gates is a vintage setting of rolling hills, two ponds, an original pergola and 50 varieties of trees. Why you'll love this venue

  • Promotes a party atmosphere
  • Natural elegance with open spaces
  • Surrounded by nature

Venue considerations

  • No on-premises lodging options
  • Venue feels large for events with small guest lists
  • No in-house lighting and sound packages available
Curtis Arboretum was a breathtaking venue and the perfect backdrop for our wedding day. From the moment we arrived to the final dance, everything looked and felt magical. Our guests raved about the food, the grounds, and the overall experience. However, we did experience several disappointments that left us, as the bride and groom, feeling a bit forgotten. We missed out on key elements we were especially excited about, including the Seoul Kitchen station during cocktail hour and gelato chipwiches. While our guests enjoyed them, we never got to try either. The chipwiches were advertised as butlered to the dance floor, but never came out. After trying to get information from the coordinators, a bridal party member ended up making a tray himself and bringing it to us. We also didn’t receive several passed appetizers, the harvest table, or any table wine service during dinner. VIP drink service was inconsistent as us and our parents rarely received drinks from the staff. Dessert was served without notifying the emcee, so many guests (including us) missed it entirely. We only had the ceremonial bite of our wedding cake and didn’t get to enjoy any of the dessert stations. Sadly, the top layer of our cake, meant to be saved for our anniversary, was placed in a car staying overnight and ended up having to be thrown away. That tradition is now lost to us. We’ve shared our honest feedback with the venue and were met with a polite “thank you, we’ll share this with the staff,” along with a pitch to book another event. While these issues didn’t ruin our day in the slightest, they did impact our experience as the couple. Future couples: advocate for yourselves and confirm all promised services in writing to ensure you get what you’re paying for!! Curtis Arboretum is a beautiful venue, and we’re grateful for the memories, but we hope future weddings receive more attentive service for the couple at the center of it all.

From the staff to the galleries to the grounds, the Alverthorpe Manor/Abington Art Center was the perfect place to host our wedding. We enjoyed being able to get ready on site and have the ceremony and reception all in one place. Our guests enjoyed the local art and sculpture garden. It was a uniquely wonderful venue for us as a couple who didn't want a "traditional" wedding venue, and as foodies for whom it was really important to be able to bring in our own caterers! Payton, the private events coordinator, was so helpful with everything.
