Karrie Porter Photography

Destination Proposal and Engagement Photographer

I'm a destination proposal and engagement photographer based in Key West, Florida. If you love a colorful, candid, and creative style that highlights the bold scenery and blue skies of the Florida Keys, delivered by a warm and intuitive professional, then I'm your girl! I began shooting in 2001, and absolutely love what I do. I'm very fortunate to get to work at some of the top destination venues in the Florida Keys, and have amazing relationships with the top vendors to bring your dream proposal to life. Engagement already in hand? Pop over to Bridge Imagery, where my studio partner Mark and I offer couples an elevated wedding experience.

My approach to lighting, editing, and attention to detail set me apart. My work is often described having a heartfelt, unposed feel to it, however what most don't realize is that this is by design...I set the moment up during your shoot to ensure those images come naturally, and I make it a point to let scenes unfold as unobtrusively as possible, stepping in just to provide a bit of creative direction so that you look your best. When it comes to editing, my images are vibrant, punchy, colorful, and true-to-life. This is aided by the fact that I shoot with off-camera flash, enabling me to bring out the color in the sky, water, and foliage.

Karrie and her team are the best.

Karrie and her team made our day perfect, from the prep prior to the actual execution of the day of. We couldn’t have done it without her. Not to mention the photos came out beautifully.

Absolutely. I specialize in destination proposals, and Key West is my hometown. I have detailed location guides, and will send you sample galleries from those that catch your eye, so you can previsualize how your surprise engagement photos will look.
Absolutely. I'll even help them determine a good hiding spot while we wait for you to arrive and get down on one knee, so that they can pop out and provide a second round of surprise hugs and well wishes immediately after!
Definitely. I work with the best names in the business, so regardless of what you are needing, I am certain that I have just the professional who can help us make your moment perfect,
The optimistic answer is that most of the time, rain in Key West is short lived on any given day. However, the more pragmatic answer is to say that if it's looking like a torrential downpour is going to ruin the moment, our backup plans are to change the time, change the date, or choose an indoor space like a local resort, attraction, monument, or restaurant.
Good eye! In 2023, a whopping 22 years into my career, I decided I no longer wanted to shoot weddings as a solo photographer with just a part time assistant, and instead partnered up with another amazing photographer, my then-longtime colleague and friend, Mark Funkhouser, to formally team up and shoot weddings together. So yes, you'll still find me behind the camera at weddings, just under our shared brand name, Bridge Imagery. If you're past the point of proposing and already have your engagement photos in hand, then definitely shoot us a message over at Bride and we'd love to help you out there.
Fear not! I've seen everything under the sun happen during an undercover proposal session, which is why before every session, I send out a detailed shoot plan which is specific to your location and what we have discussed in terms of arrival, alibi, transportation, timing, and props/special traditions. We will also go over it over the phone, and I'll coach you through the little nuances that might throw you for a loop, so that they don't catch you off guard the day of (like if the wind is blowing her hair in her face, or if there's a beachgoer in our preplanned spot, etc). When the time comes, all you need to do is show up with the ring!
