Step into The Den, where the charm of the Amalfi Coast and the rustic beauty of Tuscany come to life against the coastal backdrop of Newport Beach. Our little Italian family is thrilled to welcome you to a unique space that transcends the ordinary. Less than one mile from the coast, it is a home away from home on the California Riviera. The Den is more than an event venue and creative studio. It's a celebration of community, inspired by the warmth and togetherness found in the heart of Italian family gatherings. Our 1,400-square-foot indoor space is meticulously styled to reflect the enchanting gardens of the Amalfi Coast. Sip a glass of Prosecco at our bar, find solace in the warmth of the fireplace in the garden lounge, and let the soothing melody of our fountain be the soundtrack as you mingle with loved ones between the olive trees. We look forward to sharing true essence of living la dolce vita with you!

The indoor portion of the space is a total of 1,400 Square Ft. with seating for 40 and standing room for 60 guests. Outside of the space, there is a small street-facing patio in the front. In the back, there is a private community area with overhead string lighting. The glass door rolls up for view of the backyard and allowing a fresh ocean breeze.

STUNNING venue and amazing venue management
The Den has such amazing communication. Tara, the owner, gets back to you right away, which is a refreshing change from the week-long response times at most venues. She is extremely friendly, kind, and goes above and beyond when it comes to accommodating, communicating, and providing clear instructions. The space is gorgeous and breathtaking - I have hosted a few events here and this is definitely my go-to venue. The detailed decor and immaculate cleanliness of the space keep me coming back every time. Tara also includes a vendor list of trustworthy professionals she works with, truly wanting your day to go smoothly. She is extremely accommodating and allows you to have a venue tour prior to booking. The rentals and decorations she already has inside make it a breeze to easily curate the perfect event without having to bring in too much yourself. I have been hosting events at this venue since the beginning of 2025, and Tara consistently exceeds my expectations. I can't imagine hosting my industry events anywhere else - we love The Den!
This space has a lot of potential but…
Our experience with The Den as our wedding venue was quite disappointing. From the beginning, the communication from their team was disorganized, inconsistent and unprofessional. While Tara was helpful and kind and really tried to make things right, we were often met with a rude attitude in her team’s responses and it did not seem like they were interested in making our special day a priority. However, the venue itself does have some potential - the space is quite nice, with a large outdoor area that was perfect for our catering company. Additionally, The Den is highly customizable and could likely fit any aesthetic. Overall, while the physical venue had some positive attributes, the poor service and lack of professionalism from the staff made our wedding planning experience extremely stressful and we would not recommend this venue to other couples. While Tara was friendly and helpful at times, her team is extremely unprofessional. We went for a tour a month before my wedding and her “venue coordinator” said she’s just Tara’s friend doing her a favor showing us the space. It felt uncomfortable and very unprofessional. The day of our rehearsal dinner, nobody from The Den team was there to help coordinate the flow of our rehearsal dinner. When we made them aware that we expected someone to be there, we were laughed at and spoken down on. The bathroom ended up locking by accident, and nobody was there to unlock it for about 30 minutes-1 hour. Just a lot of unnecessary issues that could be avoided if a team member was there to make sure the night went smoothly. The wifi wasn’t working and we had to contact Tara’s team through the catering company we hired to get the wifi password. Our welcome linen sign was left wrinkled even though Tara assured me all the details would be taken care of… the sign was just outside without any of the decor I requested (candles, flowers, etc). The photo that was hung of us wasn’t the right size for the picture frame either so it looked extremely DIY and not luxurious at all. You could see the borders of where the photo was cut off from where it was printed. Lastly, the speakers for music weren’t working half the night so there were a lot of awkward silences. The catering company we hired THANK GOD took control of the situation and became out coordinators for the night; serving food, pouring drinks, coordinating the flow of our timeline, etc. If you aren’t working with a planner with this venue please look elsewhere. We received our photos back from our photographer and instead of feeling so much joy looking at our photos, we feel a sour feeling just because of how bad our experience with this venue was. They are a new venue and so I know there is a lot of room for growth, but I wouldn’t work with them again solely based off the fact that we were not treated well. Once our rehearsal dinner was over, all of our guests were just talking outside by the parking lot and the venue coordinator walked past us without saying a word… it just felt very mean. :( wish we had better things to say about this venue… We rated it 2 stars because the space really is so customizable and gorgeous when decorated, and we can say that Tara really did come through with the decor.. it’s just the details that were fallen short on
Response from vendor•Jun 25, 2025Hi Rachel! Thank you for the review, but we would like to share our side. You had booked The Den and chose to add on our coordination services, which are handled through a different team. That fee was $500, and was intended to provide layouts, mockups, and vendor coordination only. All of that was provided to you. This is intended to be a simple package to mainly help with day-of coordination of vendors and setup...something you would have otherwise had to do yourself, as that is not included with the venue rental itself. You were aware of that. You also expressed you were on a tight budget. Due to me being in the hospital, something I expressed to you, I refunded that fee as a courtesy, despite the time and effort spent providing that service. Our venue manager is not a friend, she is part of our team and did not state she was a friend. She has executed several successful events with us both at The Den. When you arrived for a tour that day, you were extremely rude. You stated that you had expected the venue to be "mocked up" with ALL of the rentals, draping, etc. That is unreasonable to ask for us to pay for all of those rentals and vendors just for a showing. That would be more than you paid for your venue entirely! After that, you decided to seek services from your wedding planner. After weeks of putting our services on hold as you decided, you stated that your planner was "too expensive" to handle your rehearsal dinner. So you wanted to bring us back on-board. You were essentially expecting us to provide a $10k level of planning services for $500. I know your wedding planner and her approximate fees. The day-of, you arrived and immediately harassed the staff and were very hostile. I received texts that you yelled at them. Everything was set exactly as planned. We even started the decor three days in advance, including the draping, so that you could sign off on all of it. You did. We did not make the linen sign, that was designed by your friend and sourced it locally. You had wanted to cut down the budget, so we did not add additional florals to the welcome sign to keep the budget down. Our team did bring out candles once requested. Then you asked for the wifi password, which we provided. It was working just fine. So was the speaker. There have never been issues with either, and I confirmed with my team that both were working. Then somehow, one of your guests locked the bathroom from the inside. Again, something that never happened. We immediately contacted our property manager for assistance, and he arrived within 30 minutes to fix the issue. At this point, it was almost as if you were causing issues because you wanted to seek a refund, as you were on a tight budget for this. It was something we quickly resolved and were on top of. Regarding the photo in the frame, that was provided as a courtesy to you. You did not pay for this, we offered it, and there was nothing expressed to us the day-of or after that it was the wrong size. It was meant to have matting around it. Upon leaving, the manager did not say goodbye because of how hostile you had been. She was scared of you. While exiting, your husband and a friend made comments in front of our team about taking the photo, and his friend said you should or else she (as in you) will probably be angry and throw a fit. That says so much about you coming from your husband and friends. We did so much to try to make you happy, something that is clearly not possible.Perfect, the sweetest owners!
Planning with Tara for both my bridal shower and our intimate micro-wedding reception was so effortless and both turned out so perfect! They have an in-house design team that created custom styling for this, with such pretty rentals and settings. Their team was so nice and just a pleasure to work with, so knowledgeable with amazing vendor contacts (which is how we found our photographer)! Thank you so, so much again for everything.
Stunning & Truly Turnkey
I cannot say enough about how easy it was to plan an event at this venue. We used the provided furnishings and included tableware which were so beautifully curated. Complete with a fireside lounge and a built-in bar, it already had so many ideal amenities and my client loved it for their rehearsal dinner. Working here was easy and seamless...a planner's dream venue!
