About this venue

Founded in 1947 by friends Bob Frostenson and Harry Durall after watching Olympic Team tryouts in nearby Sun Valley, Soldier Mountain began with $10,000, a handmade lodge, and two rope tows. The first chairlift was added in 1971, followed by a second in 1974. Actor Bruce Willis purchased the resort in the late 1990s and later donated it to a nonprofit in 2012. In 2015, Matt and Diane McFerran operated the mountain until 2020, when it was acquired by a group of passionate skiers, riders, and backcountry enthusiasts dedicated to preserving its independent spirit. Today, Soldier Mountain remains family-friendly and proudly Idaho — offering Snow Cat skiing, yurt stays, and unforgettable days on the slopes.

Soldier Lodge

The adventure of a lifetime begins at Soldier Mountain.

The lodge will accommodate approximately 250 people and will seat up to 100 people. There is seating for 50 people outside, and the indoor tables and chairs can be moved out for a total of 150 seats. On top of seating for 100 people, the lodge has a commercial kitchen, full bar, and indoor/outdoor restrooms.
