Hotel Melby Downtown Melbourne, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

This hotel keeps declining my review through the Expedia app, likely because it does not paint them in a nice light, so I’m posting here instead. DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU ARE A MINORITY Was begrudgingly helped by an ancient man with a neck brace and duck dynasty hat who seemed eager to kick myself and my partner out of the hotel since we were a gay couple. This man would not answer questions when asked (parking, breakfast, check-in questions) and responded with blank looks or condescension as if we should have known the answers to our questions as first time attendees at the hotel. His costumer service was SO bad, in fact, that security followed us to our elevator (tall blond-ish man with tattoos) and asked us if we needed any help and apologized. He even offered to help us carry our stuff in from our car, made sure our room key worked, so many areas where front desk man dropped the ball. We later found out that the front desk man chose to not give us our breakfast vouchers at check in either, and we had to return to the desk to find them. He grilled us both about our names and legal names and held our IDs hostage during the entire check-in for no reason as if he’d find something on them that let him kick us out. I’ve checked into hundreds of hotels. You don’t need to hold the IDs in your hand without looking at them for nearly 10 mins. If you’re a bigot, don’t work at a hotel. And definitely don’t be the front desk person. But I suppose when the only people of color in your building is waitstaff, it shouldn’t be a shock. Do NOT stay here if you are any sort of minority. They will not treat you well.

Very nice hotel excellent downtown location in Melbourne for nightlife rooms are clean very quiet , prices are moderate

The food was excellent, and I especially loved the executive and common areas.

This was the worst experience. The room was awful . The a/c would never shut off . Everything was damp n cold. Even our clothing got damp. Floor was tacky as if what ever they used was never washed properly. Charged for parking when I never used it, plus was charged after we checked out hrs later. Still waiting for refund. I would not recommend.should have been compensated more than 50 dollars. Had a 1:00 event checked out at 9:30 due to uncomfortable room.
