I'm a Maui resident, not a visitor flying in for your wedding. I've photographed here since 2018, so I know the light, the wind, which beaches need permits, and which cliffs actually feel private at sunset. Couples hire me for the photos and to handle the island logistics: locations, timeline, beach permits, and trusted local vendors. On the day I'm calm and attentive. I'll fix the hair out of place and lay your train on the sand so you can stay present. The gallery is cinematic and honest: how Maui looked, and how it felt.

    My husband and I had photos taken with Sam, and she was incredible! She recommended the most beautiful beach for our photos and knew exactly how to pose us while making us feel completely comfortable. She knew all the perfect shots and made the whole experience so easy and enjoyable. Sam is not only such a sweet person, but also an amazing photographer! When we got our photos back, we were absolutely in love with every single one. It was the perfect way to capture our vacation and all the special memories we made together.     Samantha captured emotions, scenery, togetherness, and happiness in every photo. The photos felt perfect before they were even seen, and not were they amazing. She has the ability to bring tangibility to still photos. I would 1000% recommend and I’ll make her a part of every Hawaii vacation for our family!

    Choose Samantha Dahabi as your photographer for ANY occasion, but definitely as a wedding photographer!! Sam made sure we were satisfied with our pictures and because of this we felt much more confident with them. She helped me and my husband feel comfortable to have fun with our pictures. I felt beautiful because of the way she helped us pose for photos (& once seeing them!). She knows exactly how to have you turn, where to put your bouquet, hands, etc. Not only is she a great photographer but her rapport is amazing, this also helps with feeling confident.     Booking Samantha was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. We knew we wanted her for our Maui wedding the moment we saw her galleries online, but working with her exceeded every expectation we had! She is so kind, professional, and made us feel completely at ease from the very beginning.     Samantha did a fantastic job with our wedding photos! We had very little experience with professional photography and she was very patient with us helping us pose and look our very best! She was great with my daughter, helping keep her involved and entertained by helping with some of the posing and captured some great candid shots of her playing in the water. She even recommended we hop on over to another beach for some additional pictures since we had the time and the pictures there ended up being some of my favorites. Complete the online Hawaii marriage license application ($65 state fee), attend an in-person appointment with a licensed marriage agent on Maui, and have your ceremony performed by a licensed Hawaii officiant. There is no waiting period once your physical license is issued, and your marriage license is valid for 30 days. Both partners must be 18+ with valid government-issued photo ID. Certified marriage certificates are typically mailed within 4–8 weeks after filing.
Maui elopement costs vary greatly depending on guest count, location, coverage time, and overall experience. Most couples spend anywhere from a few thousand dollars for a simple beach ceremony to $20,000+ for a luxury multi-location wedding day experience. A realistic all-inclusive Maui elopement experience with photography, officiant, florals, planning assistance, and permit coordination often begins around $8,500+. Most couples book 3–5 hours of coverage.
There truly isn't a bad time to get married in Maui, but different seasons offer different experiences. March & April have slightly higher chance of rain showers. June–October is peak tourism season with larger beach crowds. January & February is whale season and often slower for weddings, creating potential for more privacy. August–October is hurricane season in Hawaii. Maui sunsets are beautiful year-round, though colors depend on atmospheric conditions.
For most Maui elopements, book 6–9 months in advance for the best vendor availability and stable travel pricing. For larger weddings or venue-based events, 12–18 months in advance is ideal, especially during peak wedding season from May–October. Popular vendors like photographers, videographers, and private venues tend to book first. Last-minute elopements are absolutely possible, though some locations like Haleakalā National Park require permits with at least 30 days notice.
Not always — but working with an experienced local vendor team can make the planning process significantly easier. Planners help couples navigate permits, timelines, vendor coordination, Hawaii regulations, and logistics from a distance. Important Maui beach ceremony rules include public beach ceremonies typically capped at 20–30 people total, chairs only allowed for elderly or disabled guests, and arches, tables, tents, aisles, and alcohol prohibited on public beaches.
The best beach depends entirely on your priorities: privacy, accessibility, scenery, lighting, wind conditions, and guest count. South Maui beaches are generally drier, calmer, less windy, and ideal for sunset views. West Maui offers dramatic cliffs, lush scenery, stronger trade winds, and more rapidly changing weather. Some popular Maui wedding beaches are not ADA accessible, such as Ironwoods Beach and Makena Cove.
Both are beautiful — it simply depends on the type of experience you want. Sunrise elopements are best for more privacy, cooler temperatures, calmer wind conditions, quieter beaches, and couples adjusting to jet lag early in their trip. Sunset elopements are best for golden hour lighting, vibrant skies, warmer atmosphere, and celebratory dinner experiences afterward.
Yes — weddings and elopements are allowed at designated ceremony sites within Haleakalā National Park with an approved Special Use Permit. Ceremony groups are limited to 25 people or fewer. Permit fee is currently $50. Sunrise ceremonies also require a vehicle reservation. Elevation reaches over 10,000 feet above sea level, so couples should prepare for colder temperatures, lower oxygen levels, rapid weather shifts, and strong wind conditions.
While all Hawaii beaches are public, there are many ways to create a more intimate experience: choosing sunrise or sunset, avoiding mid-day ceremonies, scheduling weekdays instead of weekends, strategic positioning on the beach, and selecting less trafficked areas. Most couples are surprised by how emotionally immersive the experience still feels once they are fully present in the moment.
