The Essential Florist is a queer-owned floral studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico. For nearly two decades we’ve been creating florals that feel personal, expressive, and a little unexpected—from timeless romantic designs to darker, moodier palettes. Our work has developed a distinctive style that couples often tell us they can’t find anywhere else locally. We’re also an eco-minded studio, prioritizing seasonal blooms, reducing waste when possible, and supporting fellow local growers and businesses.

With 19 years of experience, The Essential Florist creates wedding florals that balance elegance with atmosphere. From timeless romantic palettes to dark, moody designs, each wedding is thoughtfully crafted to reflect the couple’s style and story. While our work has developed a distinctive style of its own, our greatest strength is translating a couple’s vision into something unique, thoughtful, and beautifully executed—no matter the aesthetic.

Consultations last approximately 1 hour but can take up to 2 for larger weddings. Please come prepared with details about your wedding like your budget and style, as well as any inspiration you have for your wedding flowers. This can include images of your venue, photos of your wedding attire, fabric swatches, your color palette, photos from social media, and more. The more information and ideas you provide, the better we can assist you. After your consultation, we will curate color and floral palette samples based off your details and upon your approval start your estimate.
We have a $1,500 minimum for weddings. We also offer a complete wedding package starting at $495 with pre-selected flower types and quantities, based off your color choices.
Yes! We do offer mockup options. Should you decide you'd like a mockup please discuss it with your wedding consultant.
We offer event delivery to the following areas: Albuquerque Bernalillo Rio Rancho Santa Fe Taos and more. Your delivery fee is based on the distance and size of your event.

During your consultation, we will go over all the gorgeous in-season floral offerings available for your wedding date. We love supporting local growers and regional flowers and greenery!
Yes, we offer breakdown services along with delivery, set up, and flower transfer from the ceremony to the reception.
It’s never too early to get in touch about your wedding, but we recommend having a few details figured out before you do. For example: Have you selected the location for your ceremony and/or reception? What’s your wedding style? Do you know how many guests you’ll be expecting? Typically, our couples reach out around 6 to 8 months before their big day.
