Hi! I’m Iris, the mind, body, and soul behind Milkweed! As a lot of dad’s like to joke, my name must be a birthright into floristry. In all honesty, it really has been a constant thread throughout my life. From picking flowers in my mom’s garden, to working in a flower shop in Boston right after college, then tackling florals for my own wedding in 2021, and eventually freelancing for event florists around Maine - I fell head over heels for wedding florals!

As an art school grad, I spent the past 8 years trying to find the right medium to create with, and to say things bloomed when I touched flowers is an understatement! I started Milkweed because I believe flowers are at the crossroads of delicate and complex, simple but impactful, and that they hold the key to enhancing every event. I can’t wait to meet all the amazing couples who will trust me with this important element of the best day of their lives!!

Iris at Milkweed Design Co exceeded every expectation I had for my wedding in 2023! I love flowers and wanted a lot all over the venue, but I didn't specify know which ones I wanted. Iris created the perfect design that I was imagining but couldn't put into words myself. She suggested and constructed an elaborate show stopping floral installation on a tree welcoming guests to the venue and offering an unique backdrop for photos! The colors, textures, and attention to detail were perfection! Each arrangement completely transformed the space into something magical. It was clear how much care, creativity, and passion went into every aspect of Iris' work. Our guests couldn’t stop complimenting the flowers at the time, and to this day, it's the one thing everyone still brings up! If you’re looking for someone incredibly talented, hard-working, and thoughtful—someone who truly cares about her craft and the clients who trust her with one of the most important days of their lives—look no further!
