Charlottesville has been kind to us for the past 15 years. I started my photography business here and raised three sons (21, 17, 14) with my husband. I feel very lucky to make a living loving what I do, which can be photographing weddings, families, children, hospitals, real estate and non profit. I feel truly blessed.

The Space Downtown was created in late 2010 by owners of chefs Tim Burgess and Vincent Derquenne. The two have been partners since 1991, creating their first restaurant Metropolitain which operated in the same location as Space. It closed in 2003 and the chef pair sold the restaurant but remained owners of the building. In early 2010, the location became vacant and the two decided to open for private parties only. In addition to the Space Downtown, the pair operate Bizou and Bang restaurants, all three close in vicinity to one another.

As soon as the music began playing and the bride walked through the doors to come down the aisle, the groom immediately was hit with tears (the type that every bride hopes for). I saw from the corner of my eye that his mom turned around and instead of watching the bride walk down the aisle like everyone else, she watched her son’s reaction in tears. I'm Kἅren (Car-In) I am a mother, a wife, and a lover of all things neutral I capture couples of all walks of life and genuinely capture you naturally loving on each other. I have been a professional photographer for over 30 years. I began my education at UVA, where I was an Echols scholar. Seeking a school with a greater focus on fine arts studio work, I transferred to the San Francisco Art Institute, where I earned a B.F.A. in Photography and Filmmaking. Throughout my career I have traveled and photographed extensively in Asia, Africa, South America and Europe. I have visited and photographed more than 50 countries. I have founded 3 non-profit arts organizations: Live Arts Theater, Light House Studio, and LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph.
