I was introduced to the world of photography the same week I was introduced to the world! All thanks to my Dad, who was never without his camcorder or camera. Because of him, our memories growing up are preserved. Then I got my first camera + tons of film. I documented everything. When film turned into digital, that was a turning point in my life. Since then, my memories, large + small, have been organized on my computer, by year. So I can go back + revisit so many wonderful memories from my life...most which I wouldn't remember without pictures!

For as long as I can remember I have always loved to create. My passion for photography started when I was a teen. As I honed in on my craft I began to photograph on a more professional level right out of high school, but stepped away for academic pursuits. After completing both a bachelors and master's degree in Anthropology, I came full circle, determining that a career in doing something creative was where my heart lies. I've been passionate about documenting and creating since I was a little girl running wild in the suburbs of St. Paul. I would steal my parent's film camera and take dozens (okay maybe hundreds) of blurry photos of our dog. In high school, I spent babysitting money on a polaroid and then finally my beloved point and shoot, which was my favorite accessory for a night out! I was gifted my first DSLR in my early twenties, and that changed the way I looked at the role photography played in my life. What was always a beloved hobby became my passion, and I've never been happier.

As a small boy, I would sit for hours watching my mother hand-color portraits for a local photographer, during the cold winter months, by a fire in our family room. From there I began taking my own pictures with my first box camera. Fast forward to a restless twenty-something working as a microbiologist, taking weddings and portraits on weekends. Eventually I graduated college with an M.A. in Photography and started out in Chicago, assisting numerous photographers, shooting everything from oranges to weddings. I have been fortunate to have worked all over the world. Photography is more than a job, it’s an avocation, a passion, it's what I do.
